While I am incapable of copying this, Ford did say Stevie was off the market for now (big news, duh). What was interesting was that the Rox are looking to move Cato, MoT, and/or Boki, and Ainge is a Boki fan.

    Ford kills me.

"He is off the market now". Thats just Fords way of saving face, since its obvious that Steve was never on the market to begin with.

    HI-larious! ;)

No surprise that Ainge is a Boki fan. I think Ainge is trying to turn Boston into Dallas East. He wants a team that will run up and down the court with players that can fill it up from the outside. Pierce, Welch, Davis all fit in that mode. Boki would thrive much better in that offense. But I am not sure Boston has anything we would want. If Eric Williams was still there I wouldn't mind trading Boki for him. But really the only players I like off of Boston are Welch and Pierce and I dont think Welch would work here in the JVG system.

    yea.....thats a great idea..

lets trade Boki now that he is actually figuring out how to put the ball in the basket.

and then trade our most consistent rebounder...

and our most consistent scorer off the bench...

afterall....we dont really need anyone that can score from the outside and slashes to the basket well(Boki) or provides toughness inside and on the glass(Cato) or our sparkplug off the bench and potential 6th man of the year(Mo).

    Chad Ford is a blivet.

codell nailed it.....SF was NEVER on the market and this is just his way of tryin to cover his as* so he wont lose whatever cred he thinks he has.

I agree on Eric Williams. I think he would be a nice fit. Hard-working, great post-up guy at the SF, cleans up a lot of garbage. Too bad, he's not there.

Is ESPN InSider the worst subscription service ever? There never seems to be any 'new news' in their articles. They just summarize local newspaper articles, or Clutch BBS posts! I just hope that Chad Ford is a contributing member, being he owes his 'INSIDER' nametag to this board.

Eric Williams is a FA this year. He may leave Cleveland, although they seem to love him there. He really seems like a good fit in Houston. He has a decent 3pt shot and is a very good defensive SF. He is a total team player and a leader. His best days are behind him but I think he has a lot to offer.

I certainly would look heavily his way in the offseason to try to sign him.

Williams and Battite for Cat and EG...rotten deal? So I thought. Sounds OK now, though.

However, if Ainge wants to go Mihm for Pike/Boki I'd give a listen.

I think Ford mentioned a trade for Mills and Mihm, whose contracts expire after season, thus giving us cap flexibility. If this trade did happen it would seriosly weaken our roster since we would have one power forward if MoT or Cato left.

I don't think he was wrong about Steve being shopped to see what people would give up for him, deals that will be revisited in the summer (I doubt anything would happen mid-season, but you never know).

That being said, usually the rest of articles can be pure fiction, or the "this player for that player" can be little more than invention.

Or something that was discussed so briefly between GMs as to be almost useless.

Rox should try to get Pierce for anyone except Francis and Yao.

The whole "shopping" line is total bs, because the reality is that only about 4 or 5 players in the league are untouchable.

    Tim Duncan (best player)
    Kevin Garnett (second best player)
    Shaq (third best player)
Yao Ming (too much marketing potential)
    Lebron James (next kobe bryant/jordan/magic)

So of course everyone else is always being shopped - in theory.

I don't think we want to trade boki now, he is starting to do the things he is supposted to do in slashing and hitting the threes, he is not making much money, he is not a trouble maker, and the risk of having him are minimal and the potential that he is starting to show is way too much to let go of now, we have him while he's getting good, and i think we should have him when he is a great player which will happen at anytime in the near future.

anyone think that wecould be interested in lafrentz? we need a big guy who can shoot and play D.

raef has a good 3pt shot, and is one of the nba's best shot blockers. he can also play some center when mo comes in for yao.

the downside is he is on a long term contract, isnt a great rebounder, and isnt the "enforcer" that we like to have next to yao.

overall weget much better on offence. on defence we dont lose much, if anything we would get better at contesting shots and guarding quicker PF's. although we would lose some toughness.

Does Raef have D? He can block shots, but I've never heard anything positive about his play in the post on either side of the floor.

I disagree that Boston doesn't have anything that we would want. I'd do a Mihm for Boki trade if we had a good chance of resigning him for a reasonable price. I'd also be interested in Jiri Welsch but he's not for sale.

LaF is out for the year. Who believes Yao definitely needs an enforcer-type? I believe a big who can spread the floor and give Yao room to operate is more essential.

Raef's biggest problem, as is Mihm's, is that he (they are) is a foul machine. He can't stay on the floor for being in foul trouble.
