I have a injured toe that i hit on the corner of something really hard early yesterday. I dont really think its broke because i have some movement on it. But its hurting real bad right now and its got some swelling/bruising on it. Any one know of some good mesures to take on this issue or some good websites i can go to so i can retain some info on the subject.

    Thanks.

I broke my toe when I was in high school. What I learned is that when it is broken, you can move it and you won't think it's broken. It bruises an awful lot and is VERY painful. I'm glad that after school the next day I went and had it x-rayed. It wound up being fractured along the first joint. Had I let it go it would have damged the growth plate and may have had BIG pain when my foot was growing.

My suggestion...have it checked out just to be safe.

Refman - What did they do with your toe? I broke my big toe in high school and the doctor said they couldn't do anything about it and to just stay off of it for a couple of weeks.

While we're asking injury questions. About a month ago I had a huge pain on the back of my heel. At first I thought I somehow tore my achilles, but as the pain subsided I realized it wasn't that serious. I've done some research and I'm almost postive that what I have is something called retrocalcaneal bursitis, which is the inflimation of the a fluid-filled "shock absorber" called the bursa that connects the achilles to the heel bone. It's a common injury in runners, and could result in a bone spur. I've been resting it for about a month now, and can still feel a tingle, but the only way for me to really test it is to run on it.

I just wondered if anyone else had similar problems with their heel, and what they had to do to recover from it. Thanks.

They put a small cast on the front portion of my foot to immobilize it. They wanted to be very sure that it healed properly given the location of the fracture.

Hmm...I kind of have a question as well, but about my pinky finger. I think it was in March that I was playing basketball at school. On one play, I jammed, or so I thought, my pinky on the ball. It swelled up a bit and hurt for a while, maybe a week. The swelling went down a bit, but here's the problem. Its not all the way down. It is still bigger than my other pinky and it kind of hurts to straighten it out. Oh yeah, it isn't straight. All my other fingers can go straight easily, but this one takes some work and it feels kind of weird. A little while back, I read that it may be something with my ligament in my pinky that got damaged, or something. I'm going to get it check out, finally. Don't know when though.

BTW, it doesn't really effect me at all. Just kind of weird looking.

    Hey speaking of injuries... ;)

I've got this nagging pain running down the lateral side of my left leg from the knee to the ankle. It's been persistent for a month and is a real b**** when I work my abdominals.

The closest thing I found to this in a medical book was sciatica, but there's no pain at all in the hamstring area- a little in the lower back though...

Guess what? My eye's stopped throbbing.

Seems it was the pen I was jabbing in there.
