I've been to every game, and I really don't care about the intros. I leave my house at 7:25 sharp and get to my seat moments before tip-off. I've never seen the intro in person all year.

The emcee ("J Rocket", IIRC) was better than the old guy. The emcee actually runs around with Clutch and the dancers rather than sitting behind the scorer's table. The emcee did get the crowd more excited.

That said, I really don't care about the non-basketball entertainment at games. Short of strippers, I can't think of anything that would really make me enjoy the game more.

All I want is more, louder fans.

I've been to every game this year and even one on the road. Our intro was terrible and I didn't see a huge improvement.
I LOVE the bears and think they are great, buy why didn't they do more during the intro?
And what about the cheesy dancers? Um, am I the only one that doesn't like the power dancers? Why are they there at all? Why not have real cheerleaders like at college games that do flips and interesting stuff instead of the same tired old lame dance moves.
Why not have more of the Turbo friends doing flips? Just my opinion, but I think it would definitely be more watchable.
btw, I agree with jamcracker: louder fans is a must. [IMG]

I'm not fond of the dancers, but I hate the cheerleader idea. That seems so juvenile. I'm not really into the timeout distractions, but I guess it works for some people.

I second the red away uniforms, idea.

Thoughts from a 10 year season ticket holder...My first concern is the on-court performance first, but tickets are skyrocketing so much that this has become a source of weekly entertainment for my family. It's either the movies or a Rocket game this week kids!!! So, here are some thoughts and thanks for this vine.

    1) The intro was cool and I bet it will look better on a new mid-court 4-sided scoreboard in the new arena.

    2) Change the music played during the 3rd quarter T-shirt shoot. "The house is rockin" is getting old..try a new one . also, have more giveaways in the upper deck. Spread the love!!!

    3) The Emcee format last night was different. What the heck.

    4) Have a game giveaway for a section, like free ice cream, free pizzas or free T-shirts for the a specific point total or win.

    5) Autograph sessions on games where there is a home offnite the next day.

    6) Good stuff honoring the season ticket holders. do it every game.

    7) Give a randomly drawn season ticket holder a seat on the bench every game. Actually allow them to work during the game in the lockerroom and on the floor.

    8) Have a party patrol like last year's new years.

    9) Less drill teams and more entertainment.

    10) do live TV, radio broadcasts or spots from the stands like Rigley field.

Is the glitsy introduction to pump up the fans or the players? I mean I guess it's cool when the lights go out and stuff...but when I go to the game, I go to see the game...If it helps our players, that's fine. But as a fan I could live with or without it...well, I guess the bear is pretty good...keep him.. but all that other stuff?? Has our society become so pitiful that we need sparkles and shiney objects to ensure our attention doesnt wander?

Jeff and lurkers from the Rockets organization,

This is a thread that will be prominent as long as someone posts in it. Once this thread goes dormant, people will not know of their chance to provide feedback to the Rockets.

Is it possible that another forum could be created on this BBS for the Rockets to have a regular outlet to their fan base? Provide an email address or two to the Rockets organization and let fan's questions/ideas about things other than the team be discussed. If someone starts a thread about the roster or Rudy's coaching in that forum, just delete it. Assumed names could be used for the email addresses used by the Rockets organization.

I live in Utah so I don't make it to the games in Houston but, I would love to see a retro day. The Rockets wear the old jerseys when they play a team like Boston, Utah, or any of their old rivals.

    Mango,

That is actually a good suggestion. Clutch and I have discussed the possibility of adding an additional forum. I doubt the Rockets would regularly answer stuff on it considering they are starting up a forum of their own at some point in the near future, but I've always thought it would be a good idea.

The Rockets promotions person has agreed to answer any questions we ask about games. He can't answer stuff about uniforms, tickets or broadcasts because he doesn't control any of that, but he can answer questions about in-game entertainment, etc. I'm hoping to get the same type of agreement from someone from the broadcast crew as well and maybe the ticket office.

I will let you guys know when it comes about and how you can submit your questions/suggestions/commets.

    Rockets brass:

If you really are reading, get Turbo a new outfit...that garb he is wearing it pretty tired. It looks like he sewed it himself. You spent all that money on Clutch, Mini-Cluth and Air Clutch cant ya spend a few bucks on Turbo?

    Jeff,

The Rockets will have to really come up with something out of this world to lure the eyeballs from this forum/BBS site.

If it is going to be under the aegsis of the NBA, it is probably going to be too sanitized for many of the regulars here at CC.

I agree Mango. If Rocketball, Ltd., expects a click off of their low budget website at NBA.com is going to greatly effect the ability for them to read the average fan, they are not only understaffed...they are dreaming.

...and they are underestimating the role of fans sites...especially the best one, Clutchcity, run by Clutch.

I know there has been a variety of talk about the intro of last night's game. Well, the Rockets definitely read all of it and I got a note from their promotions director to address some of the issues.

    1. The TV version of the new intro did not provide the full effect. There are video enhancements and other things going on that were not shown on TV.

    2. The music may change but not until the move into the new arena in 2003 at the earliest.

    3. They are going to add an Emcee to the whole thing that will do announcements, in-game promotions and interact with Clutch. They think he will help liven things up.

    4. About the lineup, they have always done it Guard, Guard, Forward, Forward, Center with the order of each guard or forward determined by their jersey number. So, Francis comes before Mobley and Taylor before Anderson. When Olajuwon leaves/retires, this may change but not until then.

Finally, the Rockets love hearing the feedback, especially from people who actually attend the games. It helps them decide what to do. So, if you have any comments, post them here. They'll be reading it.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

Why don't they just post instead of communicating through you, Jeff? Let me get this straight: they get free marketing research information from this site so they don't have to run their own fan feedback forum or have a customer service email address, and yet they won't even acknowledge themselves.

so, they are listening? I've got one: Can you publish a season ticket holder customer service email address?

Clutch is giving them more fan feedback than any other media outlet, and I don't see them really appreciating him enough, or us fans to even use the Internet as two-way communication. Why are they Lurking??

I can't believe this is because they fear the wrath of the NBA for participating with fans at a media outlet. How is that any different than participating with talk radio?

If they appreciate us, come here and say it! Don't be so lame to email admins behind the public medium. Show us the support for fans. Many of us are down for $2,000-$4,000 in support of you.

They absolutely do not expect to compete with ClutchCity.net. In fact, in the words of one of them, "Don't worry about our forum competing with yours. You have such a loyal following and good reputation, it will not effect you at all."

This was said without me even mentioning the concept of competition between the forums.
