I heard it ends today. Is there a time deadline that they have to use it by. If they go w/o using their exception at all or heck, even if they do use it, who cares, so long as it isn't a deal in a player that the Rockets would have interest in. That would put us as serious serious players after today for we would be the only ones out there with a large trade exception and more teams will be lining up to do a deal.

I suspect it has to be used by midnight tonight. I bet that the Rockets are going to get something really big with theirs and a better deal than Indiana gets with theirs just because they'll have more time to put the deal together. Go Rockets!

I believe theirs came as part of the Antonio Davis trade. Ours came to us as part of the Pippen deal.

It seems plausible that ours would be preserved for a G. Robinson acquisition unless something better comes along.

Jeff's right about where Indiana got the exception. They gave away Davis' salary and took on the rights to an unsigned rookie (which didn't count against their cap) -- Jonathon Bender.

For us, Pippen made more by himself than all of the guys we got back from Portland put together. And I think we also got some of ours in taking on the rights to an unsigned free agent -- Stevie.

How did Indiana get their exception?

And could someone please explain to me again how we got our exception?
