Anyone listen to this cd? I didn't really hear much buzz about it when it came out so I didn't really put much thought into downloading any of the tracks from the cd. I loved Make Yourself, but I started to drift away from that style of music and just didn't feel like bothering with the new one. Anyway, last night I downloaded 5-6 songs and they were all amazing. This cd's much more toned down from their last album and is awesome "chill" music. Solid melodies throughout, and even the "hard" songs sound pretty kickass. These tracks have inspired me so much that I might actually buy the cd! Anyway, I just thought I'd pass along how solid this cd is and that I highly recommend it. If you're a fellow song stealer, I suggest "11 am", "Just a Phase" and "Are you in?". They sort of demonstrate their more mature and melodic sound compared to their previous works. Opinions?
I like that CD alot! Their sound has matured and the tracks BGM pointed out do stand out. Good stuff.
After re-reading my suggested tracks, I don't know how I forgot to mention "Blood on the Ground". "Mexico" is also a good song. Pretty much every song kicks ass...
Damn good CD. I havent listened to it in a while...... thanks for reminding me that I have it. They truly are one of the better and more talented bands out there right now, with all of the one-hit blunders taking front and center. Does anyone hate Nikelback as much as me?
I have had it for about a month, and love it. Incubus has put out two great CD's in a row. In my opinions, rather unique style and there are no "cookie cutter" songs.
I agree. Incubus is one the few bands out right now that actually make good music, rather than soundtracks for cheesy MTV shows.
Personally, I like the last track - "Aqueous Transmission." Great to just listen to - or go to sleep to, if you like sleeping to music.
Woohoo . . . I get to be the curmudgeon I can't stand Incubus. The singer sounds like the guy from Third Eye Blind and writes some of the most cliched lyrics I've ever heard. And unlike Radiohead (another band with a whiny singer), the music isn't interesting enough to keep my interest. But they're doing better than my band. So who am I to talk?
"These 5 words in my head, scream are we having fun yet....yet....yet.....are we having fun yet?" - Nikelback Man those lyrics are deep and have moved me to a new level of. Nikelback is nothing more than one of the many bandwagon jumpers who we will all forget by next summer (see 3 Doors Down)
drew: i dont care for three doors down, but how can you say a band is gone before they even have time to record a follow up?
I bought the incubus cd, "morning view," a couple of weeks ago, and i was hooked on it pretty instantaneously. Usually, it might take 3 or 4 listens to really get into a new cd, but it grabbed me from the beginning. I'm thinking about going out and grabbing "make yourself" now. More than anything else, it's just nice to see a band put out a solid cd, top to bottom. It's pretty rare to find a cd nowadays that you can listen all the way through without some sort of filler crap.
Morning View kicks ass! the whole cd is great i am actullay listening to the cd while i am posting this message. The song is warning if your wondering. I highly recommend this cd too. Brandons voice is sweet! I know this doesnt have anything to do with incubus but if u like punk rock i suggest New Found Glory This is the cover of there new album which is to hit stores June 11
Okay, the 3rd Eye Blind guy is known for his lisp. Brandon doesn't have a lisp, he also has much more vocal range than the 3rd eye blind guy. He sounds nothing like the guy from 3rd eye blind... How are his lyrics cliched?
Both singers have thin, whiny voices and sing in basically the same range (maybe the Incubus guy has a broader range, but most of the time he's singing in the same area). Both of them have a strained quality whenever they raise the pitch of their voices. They both have that irritating California accent to their voices. "Wish You Were Here?" - okay it's not a cliche . . . it's a ripoff. Again, the music does nothing for me, but the band is doing better at the game than I am.
Well the whole point of my topic is to praise the new cd and the development of the band. There's a couple songs that rely soley on Brandon's range and he doesn't just stick in one area. You might be able to argue that in the past, but in a lot of the songs on the cd, he does show a more mature sound. Robert Plant had a whiny voice too...I guess you didn't like Zep either? So what if they have the same song title as Pink Floyd? In that song, they actually do a solid job at portraying the feelings of being at a beach bordering the Pacific...not just in word, but also in pace and sound...
