You're right. We have to give up a center who has shown improvement and a franchise. Francis wants to be a leader. Vince Carter is not a leader, and does not seem to be developing into one.

Don't get me wrong, Vince is good. But how would this work out financially anyway.

Vince is a good player but lacks in team unity and his ability to pass the ball to open men instead of what we see vince do is drive to the basket.

Francis is here to stay and Rockets will make sure he is around for a long time.

Anyone notice Toronto is a much better defensive team without Vince in the lineup.
Would you offer Kevin Willis for Hakeem back? would toronto bite at this?

The Rockets would be stupid to pull off this deal. Vince is a very good athlete but Francis is a better all-around player and even Stevie plays D every once in a while. I would hope that CD and Rudy T laugh this trade off. How could they even consider it?

Uh, all that being said, I may do this deal if I were Les. Vince puts butts in the seats.

OK, so the Rockets do this deal. Does Vince start at the SF in front of the teams currently highest contract - Rice or does he start at SG in front of Cat.

Maybe the Rocks will go really small and start Moochie, Cat, Carter, Rice at PF and MoT/KT at the 5. Just think of all the mismatches! Rice brings Malone, Rasheed, Garnett, etc. out to the arc and really improves our offensive boarding!

Unless some team physician knows something we don't about the migraines and there's a taker for Glen Rice, or Cat becomes the PG, I don't understand this one (other than filling seats).

What if the deal were actually Cat and Cato and release of the pick? How's this grab you:

    5) Willis / Collier / draft = Chris Marcus
    4) Mo T / KT / EG
    3) Rice / EG / TMo
    2) Carter / Torres
    1) Steve / Mooch

I'm 5'8" and not very good. Even I could score on that starting line-up.

So, if we put Mobley back at the 2 and Cato back at the 5 that would be enough defensive to shut you down? :)

I totally agree with you on that point...We have to remember that this is a business and having someone like Vince would put people in the seats, and could you imagine the marketing that would be put behind Vince...just a thought

TWO CONDITIONS WHERE I WOULD DO THIS TRADE:

    1) i'd have to have the ability to draft yao ming.
    2) toronto would have to make the playoffs this year, so we'd have their pick.

    PG: draft one/moochie
    SG: cat mobley/torres
    SF: vince carter/rice
    PF: kt/griff/motay
    C: ming/motay

    yep...that i'd do.

Hmm. What are the contracts? Maybe. Decent PGs are available year in year out (TBrandon, T Best), but # 1 fan vote allstars are not. Grif, Mobely, Francis v Grif Carter Mobely is pretty close, so ok, I pull the trigger and still look for more pieces, just like now.

I do prefer Mobely/Cato for Carter, of course. 2 allstars is better than 1, certainly for ticket sales and future trade bait/rebuilding pieces. Getting rid of Cato's long contract is a plus.

Screw that. We pick Duke Jason Williams, and trade Francis/Cato for Vinsanity. Houston is back on the map immediately.

Now THAT makes sense. That would be an awesome trade and draft pick. Plus then maybe Cat will leave when his contact is up, then we can sign Eddie long-term. Then the future is set with Vince, EG, JDub, Mo T....ok, maybe not Mo T, but he'll play a part in it.

No, I think Cuttino is under contract for at least four more years.
