I got a call from SwolyD.......he called to check in on my family. This guy is awesome even though his jokes are horrible sometimes.

His family is doing well and he is good. Some damage and Ike blew away some smileys. I think he is opening up a taco stand off 290??? I dunno.

Where are you cabron? :D ;)

I got power back yesterday. Phew! man, no more taking it for granted. Stood in line for hours at local HEB but the meat is a rare sight. Many stores still remain closed and it tough to get stuff. Hopefully those without power will have it soon. Take care guys.

Raven checking in.

Fence blown down. Shingles on roof blown off and a lot of water damage from leaks as a result of shingle loss. A big section of my living room ceiling caved in and got insulation EVERYWHERE (the shredded newspaper/cardboard kind). Power was restored Monday evening and never lost water. Finally got everything cleaned up enough to sleep in my house again last night. Still no internet or TV, so posting this from work.

Checking in with internet and power finally. From Saturday at midnight until tuesday at 6 pm, we had no power. We're going have to get rid of our oak tree in the back as a few of the big branches cracked completely. One of our smaller trees in our front yard snapped in half and we've machetted it down which was pretty cool, lol.

Other than that, just happy to be alive and through the storm. I never realized how much I take the power for granted and the internet (which just came back on this morning) as well.

I'm amazed at how many people still don't have power though, but that's for another thread. Glad everyone here seems to be doing well, all things considered :)

Mrs Thade and I are fine here in Alief! We just came back from Austin, been there since Saturday, couldn't stay in our home without any power so we bolted for my sister's house in Austin. We got some damage to our house , time to roll up my sleeves and get to work in the morning.

Good night all.

Still no power at the house, staying with friends in the Lake Jackson area.

Interestingly enough, more places down here had power than I expected. Freeport/Clute area had a lot of spots with power.

Still, just now getting Internet/Cable service. Good to check in with the world.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Wow. Our usernames have been confused before... we are both '99ers... and have friends/relatives in the Lake Jackson area.

Think of Glenn Campbell:

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see Lyda not ever knowin'
She was unsure when I left Galveston

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still see the storm surge bashing
While I watch the houses crashing
I long for fun and dream of Galveston

I still see her standing by the water
Not sure if she should tell us to flee
Are looters waiting to go on a spree?
Homeowners each need to have a gun

Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so tired of trying
Before I dry the tears that Dolcefino is crying
Before I watch the helicopters flying in the sun
At Galveston, at Galveston

Anybody know if the curfew is still in effect? If so, are bars still open til' 2am or do they have to close at midnight?

Tree limb went through my apt living room and bedroom. Damaged some things but my ACL tickets were left in tact. No power yet so I'm staying at parents, who got power sunday night and just got Internets and cable.

The three pilars of modern civilization

...BTW society is a fragile thing.

Regarding living with parents; why did I ever leave the womb?

I know Bingo very well, but I have not heard from him, I have been told his place is bad and will be condemned.

I am really up and down on internet and I won't have power for a while...
but we are doing well, pray for us please.

I have 2 of my kids leaving for missions this week and our church is stretched very thin helping people, we are working with the City of Clute helping the city manager and the city council; they still have most of the power out.

Thanks alot and God bless.

Thunder! do not shoot! I'm late in reporting, but my position was overwhelmed.
Those Trees came out of nowhere and gave us hell. Fortunately, the trees missed their target. I can't say the same thing for my aunt who lives 4 blocks away. Her children's bookstore will be closed for some time. Insurance company told her a month to repair :( .
My lines of communication were just restored 3 hours ago by some courageous ground engineers.

( we resorted to eating the way we did during the revolution. Later, my neighbor, a hooters girl and student of Art history, would lend me her extra Gas grill. I guess she felt sorry for my Old Skool one.)

Yesterday, I was able to Link up with R.C company to volunteer at Point Long. There are still many in spring branch w/o lights and the red cross is doing an awesome job giving out bottled water and food. Will post pics of that soon. =)

P.S DIANITA I'M STILL ALIVE :D
