You guys keep looking away from the fact that Shandon can play some ball.He is the closest thing we have to a Kobe-stopper.And say I remember a time Kobe took him to school and hit a jumper to win the game because there no such thing as a Kobe-stopper.But lets go back to what he tread is about if not Shandon who. Shandon is a good defender and will be missed if he leaves, but he didn't score well at all and I think T.Morris can replace him and also back Griffin.
I entirely agree with RocketFan 007 that we should look to use the money that Anderson wants on Marc Jackson, which I have already mentioned before in another post.

First of all Shandon is not a SMALL FORWARD. He is a great defensive 2, his defense is highly overated because he gets lit up at the 3. Shandon is a good Kobe stopper, he plays hard nosed defense and I remember several times that he has completely shut down the elite 2 guards in the league, but he wasn't played well last season. Coming from a backup 2 guard roll for defense or fastbreaks off the bench would be a perfect role and fit for this team. He just can't start.

A solid defender at the 2 who can also play some 3? Back up Cuttino and compete for starter/backup minutes at the 3 depending on matchups? And he's an Early Bird who'll take a small single season raise to gain Full Bird rights next year? And he'll wait until Dream is done p***ing around and isn't shopping his skills elsewhere? And he took less money than the Spazz were offering to play in Houston?

    I have no further questions.

Argh. So you want to have 6 small forwards and pay about 4 million dollars for a guy who will get a few minutes at backup SG? Great... [IMG]

Rockets' offseason tasks in order of priority:
    • Get rid of Cato under any circumstances - ideally in a trade (with draft picks from us to them) that brings us Raef LaFrentz (dreaming).
    • Re-Sign Hakeem.
    • Re-Sign Mo Taylor.
    • Re-Sign Moochie and AirBullard.
    • Pick up the Langhi option for another year.
    • Sign-and-trade Shandon Anderson for Bo Outlaw.

Hehe...today is the day when Gater and I disagree on everything - oh no...I want to see Raef in a Rockets' jersey, too! [IMG]

I guess we are just making up for lost time. Were have you been? Your posting was sporadic for awhile. Glad we agree on the LaFrentz issue! (Thanks for the Femmerling update, also).

I honestly believe the Rockets can get SA for less the $3.0M this year. If he does not perform, then they don't have to sign him next year or to a smaller contract.

Just for discussion, what's he worth to back up Cat and compete for SF minutes? Langhi, Griffin, and Morris are still pretty raw.

Shandon is a solid, back-up 2. If the Rockets can get him for cheap it would be nice.

As much as I LOVE Sean Colson, Shandon Anderson would fit so much better in that back up two role. Sean is a point as much as I love his game as I watched him in the CBA, he isn't the most effective off the bench 2 guard, we already have moochie. Anderson played to a tee his position in Utah, and highlighted how effective he can be used off the bench to shutdown a star two guard for a stretch of the game and have good fast break skills to complete any fumblings of the 2 guard on offense. Perfect fit for this team when used correctly. SIGN SHANDON. PLAY HIM RIGHT. SHUTDOWN 2 GUARDS OFF THE BENCH. LET MOBLEY SCORE. GET TRANSITION BUCKETS.

    shandon meets the criteria.

Gater has spoken most of my thoughts. I'd only add that he's the only Rocket who played all 82 games last year, ironman minutes when his shot wasn't totally off, and NEVER b****es about a thing, even when his mom goes and dies on him.

I also seem to remember several occasions when Steve and/or Cat didn't "show up", and he scored in the vicinity of 25-30... He CAN score when necessary. IMO he has more value in the zone than Hakeem at this point.

Hmm...Didn't we just give up 3 first round picks for a small forward - the same small forward that posted 20 points, 7 boards, and 2 blocks last night? And don't we have at least 3 other small forwards on this team?

Maybe, I'm just confused. After all, Anderson's two points, overrated defense, and two turnovers per game would undoubtedly get us into the playoffs.

You don't give up a guy who plays solid defense and has playoff experience. IMO, Anderson could be the Mario Elie of the current Rockets. He starts when need be, backs up at two positions and plays tough D.

All he needs now is a set shot and a ****ty attitude and we're in business! [IMG]

I may be wrong, but with the new zone rules, doesn't it put more of a premium on team defense instead of man to man? If I'm right, there is really no reason to keep Anderson because we won't need a "Kobe stopper", I'd rather give the money we pay him to someone like Marc Jackson to help bolster the frontcourt.
