would Travis Outlaw be a player the Rockets should target for their bench? I'm not sold that Morey is going to trade Chase but if he does, who would you replace him with? Outlaw has a lot of talent but he was injuried last year and didn't shoot too well. He was able to still shoot 38% from three's which is a plus and he does attack the basket. He would be awesome to see with Lowry running and gunning next year.
Outlaw is okay, Miller would come for less. Yao / Miller / Hayes Scola / Hill / Jeffries Ariza / Miller / Battier Martin / Budinger / Taylor Brooks / Lowry
I think Miller will probably get more money. Both players were injuried last year but Miller is a bigger name. I think NY will target both of these players though. Both fit under the Mike D's offense.
If Chase get traded, which implies the Rockets would have a superstar talent returning, as well as additional salaries, then no way Morey would continue to spend in FA. Likely replacement for Budinger: Taylor, bought 2nd round pick, unknown FA ala Wafer.
where is everyone getting this from? this is at least the 3rd or the 4th time i`ve read on here about chase getting traded. he does everything outlaw and miller does.
Because I can promise you if we get a superstar back in return, most teams are going to want Chase. He's young, cheap, and has a lot of growth still. If he's traded, the Rockets are going to need someone to pick up where he left off. He's a big part of our bench and you need a strong bench in the West.
I don't think Taylor would fit the bill just yet. Morey would have to find a replacement. You need a strong bench and Chase was very important for our bench.
If Chase is traded we'll be on DD suicide watch once again... If history is any prognosticator we might as well be ready.
A strong bench isn't important. It's nice, but hardly important. When was the last championship team that won on the back of its "superior bench play"? And the Rockets do have a budget, as much as we don't really care since it's not our money. Les may pay an extra $5-10 mil in luxury tax because we're getting Bosh, but no way he pays double on the likes of Miller or Outlaw.
A strong bench isn't important? I beg to differ. 82 games is a long season and there are injuries. In the playoffs is one thing but regular season still counts. You need a strong bench during the regular season. Why do you think the Celtics were adding players during their 08 championship? Why do you think the Lakers placed Odom on the bench? I never seen a championship team that didn't have two or three players to come off the bench to help... Yes the Rockets do have a budget but you act like these guys are going to get contracts starting at $5mil. I don't know if you know this but players are getting contracts on the cheap side nowadays... Morey isn't going to leave a hole unfilled. Whether through the draft or a small pick up.

And why can't Morey do the same? Why do we have to go out and sign someone a multi-million dollar deal when we can just emulate the Celtics? Isn't that what I pointed to? Someone cheap? Umm... because they wanted Ariza/Artest as the defensive specialist in the starting lineup? I don't see what Odom has to do with bench depth. So now you're saying that Scola and Lowry are no help off the bench? Wow, you must not think much of our own players.
By all means, let New York sign those guys. Since they have no salary cap exceptions (by being so far below the cap), they'd have to use the cap room they'd otherwise spend on a superstar or two. Heck, if they're spending that money, it probably means that they were stuck re-signing David Lee and/or McGrady and perhaps ARE using salary cap exceptions. Hmmm . . . Last year's Knicks' team, with Miller and Outlaw but probably minus some other key players . . . "And with the fifth pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets select . . ."
Chase's value is still rising... I would wait till his value peaks. Trading him now would be a dumb move. It's like being able to predict a stock will increase over time... hold on to it.
If YOU realize that Chase's value is still rising, why do you assume that most NBA GMs (you know, guys who get paid to do what we enjoy doing in our spare time) do NOT realize this? THAT is exactly why Chase will be a hot commodity this summer. To think that professional talent evaluators, especially one like Bryan Colangelo who has a fairly good track record (up until recently) of putting together good teams, doesn't understand this concept AND THEN SOME is absurd. I would prefer to hold onto Chase. But if he is a key piece in a trade package to get a guy like Chris Bosh, I will be just fine letting him go.
If Chase is traded, he would be included in a big trade like Bosh (BimaThug just points out), but not for Travis Outlaw. We have enough SF and SG, plus that Outlaw is more expensive than Chase, and Chase is still growing. There is no need for one to one trade with Chase.

I would trade Martin before chase. I thought they should have moved shane at the deadline and played chase all the backup minutes. I would deal martin if i had the chance.
