The in-season trade to acquire Andre Iguodala. AI, Yao and KMart would make for a formidable Big 3.

And if Morey can also find a way to bring in Tyson Chandler as well, Rockets could seriously challenge for the whole kit and kaboodle this season.

The 2 would add crazy length, athleticism & D, to go along with the heart and hustle of the current team.

    C: Yao/TChandler
    PF: Scola/Patterson
    SF: AI/Ariza
    SG: KMart/JT
    PG: Brooks/Lowry

    Nice thinking, dude!

I would give up Battier, Ariza, Jeffries, Hill and maybe a pick to acquire those two guys.

IGGYYYYY!!!! He's clutch, got real excited when we made an offer for him last year, but I would rather acquire him in the offseason so we won't have to adjust like last season when kevin martin came to the team.....I still have nightmares on that dunk he put on Yao

If you want Iguodala for the pieces we have to offer, you should probably forget about getting Chandler. We'd almost certainly have to take Brand as well.

I wouldn't mind getting Iggy if we didn't have to give up too much. He has a bad contract, but there comes a point when clear upgrades are hard to come by without overpaying. Iggy is a clear upgrade at the 3.

We'd have the most well-rounded starting five in the league with Iggy or Granger, plus a healthy Yao.

If no other big moves can be achieved, I want Morey to trade for Iggy and Speights...

I'm sure Morey keeps constantly in touch with the Phillies. But to be fair, it will take another Martin/Evans type problem for Philly to trade Iggy.

Last year, a trade couldn't go down because Philly wanted more than just a salary dump for the guy. So unless he sucks this year due to Turner, I can't imagine why they'll dump him.

Yeah, it kinda sucks seeing everyone else but the Rockets make moves. Really getting tired of seeing this over and over.

Well, we had a big trade at the deadline last season. I'm happy we haven't done something stupid just to do something. Don't forget as well that we have several players who are likely to improve next season. Quite possible we have the most room for improvement in that department.

I'd bet we make another big move by the trade deadline...

Doug Collins is smarter than that. Expect no big trades till the middle of the season leading up to the trade deadline.

So, are you going to stop posting after the summer when you have to go back to your Middle School? Shouldn't your mom be monitoring your internet time?

Seems like Igoudala would be Collin's main 'guy'. I'm sure he wants him on the team and won't take back anything less than another team's stars.

I agree with this. If a Chris Paul move does not materialize and if a Danny Granger move does not materialize, then Morey should revisit Iggy/Brand at the deadline. Yes, I said Brand. Because the deal for Iggy/Brand should be that Philly has to give us their #1 pick, non-lottery protected or at most top 1 protected for our expirings. We should be able to get their #1 pick for taking all that salary off their books.

The downside of the deal is Brand. But at the trade deadline, I don't think there will be much downside left, if you can see that a lockout is coming down the pike for 2011/12. If there is a lockout, then these guys ain't getting paid. Teams with bloated payrolls don't have to worry about paying those bloated bad contracts. If the lockout lasts for half the season or longer, then we've really only got to eat Brand's deal for about one full season, that is, half of this coming season and the last half of 2011/12. Yes, he's still got a year left. That is a nice, big fat expiring contract to churn into more assets. The Morey Way

No way I'm taking back Brand unless they give us an lightly protected pick back. Getting Brand essentially puts us "all in" on the Yao era, since we would have basically no wiggle room financially with him on board.

Say Yao gets hurt again and it's time to move on, we're stuck with Iggy, Martin, and Brand as our main salary guys. I don't mind gambling on a chance at a title, but adding Iguadala doesn't scream "championship" to me.

If Granger or Paul are not available in season, I'd rather wait until next summer to try to make a move. With all of these assets, we going to get someone to bite ... I just don't want to waste it on the wrong guy.

The only problem I have with making a deal like this, jopatmc, is what we'd have to give up in order to get it.

Consider what Daryl Morey has been able to accomplish with the Rockets' roster in the space of three seasons: massive turnover of unproductive personnel, savvy and spot-on drafting, and managing of the team's fortune's away from weighty contracts under the guise of winning.

Rick Adelman has a great deal to do with that, too. When you turn a roster over like the Rockets have, you need a steady hand at the coaching spot. A hand that can get talent working and improving together and at both ends of the court. Especially when you consider that roster turnover essentially means younger players for older ones.

The Rockets have managed the teams fortunes masterfully to this point, jopatmc. Yao's status is still a bit uncertain, despite the favorable reports of his progress. But there are other areas to address personnel-wise that can be solved without taking on Andre Igoudala or Elton Brand.

One of the things Daryl Morey has practiced and preached is value. Whatever plotting you'd stake on turning either Igoudala or Brand into something valuable outside of their specific contributions could be done by Morey in less-costly ways, in my opinion.

But I have to admit to not being anywhere close to being salary-cap proficient. I would guess any moves for players would boil down to what's available on the market (which will be premium at the trade deadline), how the players here develop....

....and Yao. With Yao back, the Rockets may have a chance with or without another significant addition (how we've all seemed to forget about Kevin Martin, who's supposed to be the answer to alot of those problems himself, and worlds better than what was given up to acquire him, is amazing).

The waiting on Yao is the hard part. But Yao is worth it, to me at least.

Igoudala and Brand are not. At least not right now.

Artest trade didn't happen until August. There's still time.

You guys are overvaluing Iggy's value..

His an amaziing slasher with an average to mediocre jump shooter and not great at creating of the dribble, plus his stats are inflated playing in a bad team. IMO His not that big of an improvement over Ariza.

    ......

Also I don't think we have to make any significant moves 'just yet'. IMO a small move like 'Battier/Jeffries for Tyson Chandler' would suffice(at the moment). By giving us size, length and athleticism; Improving our overall team defense(which is one of our weaknesses).

This. I think no news is good news with DM. Even though I kind of want something to happen, after seeing other teams in the media almost everyday. Most teams are just spending crazy money, while we have our priorities set on Scola/Lowry, and a backup C.
