I can't recall clearly. I may have been a fan of NBA since 1990 when NBA was televised across China. In those days, most of my friends knew well about those great players: Jordan, Penny, Dream, Batman, Miller, Malloon& Stockton, Glider, Barkley, Rainman..... I didn't focus on any single team, even Bulls, before Yao came to Houston. Yao has drawn a lot of my attention to Rockets. It is not wrong to say I am a big fan of Yao, however I still love Rockets. I won't be happy if Rockets lose though Yao gets high pts, which just make me feel a little better than nothing. So, I am definitely a Yao-fan, but maybe not a hug YOF, though I don't mind being labeled as YOF. I just wish Yao could succeed along with other players in Rockets, and finally win a Championship for Houston. Maybe one day I will get a position in Clutch city, who knows
I've been a Rockets fan since the early 70's when they moved from San Diego. I suffered through the 14 win season and went to game 7 against the Knicks. I started crying after Max hit the 3, mostly out of pure elation, but also of the frustration being lifted of a Houston team never previously winning a major championship. Count me as a diehard Rockets only fan. Houston Native
Wow, I feel dumb. 41 years old, huge (I thought) Rox/b-ball fan since I was a boy in Sharpstown... who's Batman?
Been a die-hard Rockets fan since the beginning of my freshman year in high school... when I moved to Houston and got back into basketball. But then I'm in my senior year now... so it hasn't been too long and I got here at the end of the Hakeem era. Love Yao, Cat (except when he's STUPID), JJ, Mo T, and Scott Padgett, disappointed in Steve's year, and I miss the Wizard, KT, Tierre, and even Shandon Anderson a little.
Why are you here? I can understand Memphis X or some of the lurking Lakers fans but the Magic aren't even in the same conference.
I scraped my elbow a few days ago and when I looked at it in the mirror my blood was the same color as the Rox Jersey so I guess I bleed Rocket red too.
I would like my thread going on and on forever and every new member will vote once when he enter the forum
Rox Fan for life, ...................unless they leave Houston. I am not a SOF or a YOF. I love them both, they are fantastic on our team. BUT if either of them was to leave I would not follow their careers or root for them.
Finally we have some big men here. I like your PBP sp much, I cant watch TV live in my city and this chatroom is the only place let me "see" the game.
It seems that there are many more Yao-only fans, for distinct reasons. Here's something to ponder: how do you think Yao Ming would react if you told him that you were a Yao-only fan and not a Rockets fan?
