Ha. I loved the links. I couldn't remember who all the nay sayers were, but I remembered there were nay sayers a plenty when that trade went through. but then, I suppose there always are here. At this point, I think if we traded Maurice Taylor for Kevin Garnett straight up somebody would be like "WTF? We couldn't get them to throw in Cassell and a draft pick?!?!?!" Some people here just can't be satisfied.

lol. All we get for Mo is Kevin freakin Garnett?

Someone please save the Rockets are doomed/Yao sucks/Fire JVG threads. We'll laugh about them when we win the trophy.

I personally have claimed Amare will never average 25/10 to my friends. You wouldn't believe what kind of mail they are sending me now. lol

I always thought Mutombo was a good acquisition. I figured Mutombo would get a "rebirth" or "second wind" with the Rockets. He would be playing the "slow down" game that he is used to. He would be being coached by his friend, Ewing. This system WORKS for Mutombo. He can play limited minutes coming off the bench in a methodical slow down system. In NJ with their motion offense and uptempo style he was lost. In NY he was lost because that team doesnt even know HOW to play defense. They are mish-mash of parts and players with no cohesiveness. Mutombo was successful in Philly because of their defensive style of play and that same style is exemplified here in Houston.

Houston is the PERFACT home of DEKE.

He is our defensive spark plug. Every time I see him coming in, my plams sweat in anticipation to the first block.

In Zaire, it is considered egocentric and offensive if one refers to oneself in the first person.

. . . ok, I'm just making that up. I don't know the local customs.;)

Hahahaha. I wish that were true. It would explain why I find it endearing when Mutumbo does it. But seriously, just start yelling out "GIVE MUTUMBO THE LIME GATORADE!" when he walks off the court and see if you're not cracking up. Nevermind anyone else present will think you're crazy, it's really entertaining. :D

I like the way even his **** don't stink. You'll never see Mutombo agree with a foul called on him. And if he misses a shot (like he's oft prone to do) he'll turn to the ref, raise his arms up in amazement and ask why the whistle wasn't blown.

Seriously, though, I hope at least some of his defensive intensity rubs off on Yao by the end of the season.

I am really happy he has been preforming like we needed him to off the bench. I really think he has something to prove to the league and he is doing a great job of it.

If he was in the East right now he would be playing very well. But i am really glad we have him backing up Yao since he is always in foul trouble.

I'm shocked at how good Deke has been, and I freely admit that I didn't think he had much left in the tank, and wanted to get a younger, more mobile guy.

    I was wrong! Wrong!!
Now I love the dude. In his honor:

Yeah.....to even think that many here thought that Deke was a downgrade from Cato.

Cato cannot carry Deke's "jock strap".

It's worth it to have Mutumbo just for the interviews. The deepest and most gravelly voice in human history.

Adding Mutumbo to Mt. Rushmore is brilliant. I love this thread. I think I need to read this thread again because I actually think it's two whole pages of nothing but positive comments. That has got to be a new record for this board. :D
