kdsljfldsakfjdlskjflsdkfjsdklfjsdlk;fjdskl;fjsdakl;fjdsak how do you get the ****ing sound to play without STATIC? why does nothing work on LINUX? DSAFSDFSD in all seriousness, someone with linux knowledge please help me
Oh ... you know... the fact that just maybe I'm going through a pretty hard time right now and don't feel like having smartass replies. I don't know? normally, it wouldn't be a big problem. i can take a good smartass reply as good as the next guy, but i want help on linux, it's frustrating me. etc.
I don't know anything about linux except for that my bf's roommate used to use it and he didn't have static on his speakers. How old are your speakers - maybe this is the problem and not linux?
Did you check your TCP/IP settings Did you enable cookies You want this dog Seriously, which distribution are you running, what's your sound card and which drivers are you using
Sorry, I was a little out of line. What I meant to include in the original post, is that me and my dad were working on Linux before he passed away. It's a little cheesy, but I wanted to learn linux for both of us.
Hmm, sorry I don't know the terminology yet. I think though you mean stuff like Freespire, Fedora, etc? I'm running Ubuntu 7.10
I don't think the issue is with linux. It is either your speakers or sound card. Try using some headphones and see if the issue goes away.
Have you tried looking in some of the ubuntu forums? http://ubuntuforums.org/ I don't know the answer to your question but someone there probably does. I would make sure to explain the situation completely (that you are new to linux and the stuff about your dad) on there though or you will probably get some more dumb ass answers.
Who are you to Define what is acceptable in this Forum and where threads belong? I didn't see any significant: *Badge *Rank *Insignia *Title *Honor near you Moniker. Yes, I am tired of seeing threads that could have some thoughtful, meaningful and serious discussion; then having a few others come in and throw in what they think is Humor. I am not against Humor, but it doesn't have to be deposited in every thread in this Forum.
Lighten up. Doesn't sound so funny now, does it? Linux DEEZ NUTZ, then!!!! The problem is not with LINUX, and you should be more patient than HATING something 'cuz you can't understand it. Other than that, here you go: www.linuxforums.org ; good luck in there getting some help.
Yeah, definitely check the Ubuntu forums. Ubuntu should automatically recognize and install the proper drivers for the card, but it can occasionally mess up
The key to being happy with Linux is to run it on hardware that is well supported. It just doesn't work perfectly on all hardware. Vendor participation in contributing drivers or at least providing documentation is spotty. Sometimes you'll have to eat it and buy some new parts, especially when it comes to sound, video, and networking. However, you will learn A LOT about computers trying to get it to work. Really, the learning curve today is a lot less than it used to be. Go to a forum for your distribution, and if that doesn't work, find a friend who knows more and see if they can help you.
ALAS, that's true. He was given that title just a while ago, just to determine what was humorous and what was NOT, and he did, and it was so. It's funny that the mods took that away from him, 'cuz his reign was short. But not short for its own good: I, myself, asked him for guidance on what was humorous and what was not. He crossed me for being non-humorous, and I listened. Praise be to bladeageah.
