3:37am.....studying chem II........can't stay awake..... someone give me some encouraging words... i hate finals
When I was an 18 year old freshman at A&M I had a theatre final to study for. I could not stay awake at all. My suitemate was in the class and was studying with me. He told me to take a nap and he'd be back in 15 minutes. When he returned he had a BIG cup of espresso. I told him that caffeine didn't affect me. He told me to drink it anyway, with a smirk on his face. I drank it and didn't even feel sleepy until the exam had been over for 7 hours. You may wish to try it.
Procrastination and science don't mix. Good luck on your finals. If it makes you feel any better, I had 3 finals in 3 days consecutively and all started at 8 in the morning. Sleep might be for wusses, but it sure feels damn good...
i also have a final. And i studied last night until 2:30. so i understand how you feel.damn i'm tired.i was tired yesterday when i started to studie.good luck

my sophomore year of college i took 2 vivarin to stay awake to study for a chem final. BIG MISTAKE... i could feel my heart thumping in my chest and it felt like it was about to explode my junior year i took shots of vodka to keep me awake (only 2), but it made me want to go to bed instead. how the hell did I ever get a degree??? seriously, good luck dude. i think the idea of exams is the only thing keeping me from getting my Master's Degree. stay away from the computer! This BBS is crack!
Weird ... I had the same experience, same year, same class! That was the worst feeling ... I would lie down and I'd feel so damn nervous, I'd be shaking all over ... couldn't focus. As a CS major, the finals were never the problem, the problem was always meeting the 2AM deadline for projects, and you get the damned core dump riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight around 12:30. You spend so much time in the computer lab, night after night, day after day, it's like you're dating the machine. Pulled an all-niter to write an English paper, which was supposed to be 20 pages, but by the time I was done some 15hrs later, it was a gargantuan 72 page proposal.
All this talk about vivarin and coffee.... Ya'll need some adderall or ritalin if ya'll want to pull the ultimate study cram session - the allweeker. Two weeks ago I stayed up for three straight nights finishing my graduate thesis. I wound up making a hundred on it. The funny thing was that I melted my brain so bad that when I got it back I could hardly remember what I wrote. I was like "I wrote this? This is pretty good...". The bad thing about adderall is that on higher doses you get these emotional waves where you are either really happy or really angry or really sad. I would not suggest it for light studying where you might let your mind wander. But you will literally not get tired while you are on that stuff. Now that I am graduated I don't think I will ever touch it again.
I was about to post something like this.... all I can say is.... sleep=optional.. that chem final I had. it would take a genius to even make up those question .. let alone answer them! I have a spanish final at 3pm today... Thank you Vandy for stealing my sleep!
I had a Cal final at 8-10 last night and just finished my gov final which started at 8 this morning. I got to bed last night at 7a.m. 1 hour of sleep!! I took my concerta so I cant get back to sleep now
During Finals, the last place we should be is in this BBS... I had an advertisement test and a Finance test coming up in an hour. I pulled an allnight for no apparent reason, so I'm just waiting for test time to come... I'm going to drink my @ss off tonight.
Take afternoon or night classes. That way, you sleep all day, stay up all night and are thus prepared for finals.
This is my first year in college, I hate coffee so that is not a option for me. I picked up these things called "nodoz". They have worked really well, I have no problem staying up all night studying. if you want to try this do not take two. B/C they really wear out your body. My legs felt so awkward and made my whole body sore, I fell a sleep at the library only after 30 minutes of studying. If you take one it should keep you awake it worked for me.
Funny, I always found that procrastination and Science or Math did mix. Programming and English Lit did not.
I took one at about 2 or 3 am once. My heart started pounding like that, but I couldn't concentrate so I tried to sleep...right. I ended up not studying, not sleeping, and exhausted for the test.
I understand taking stuff to keep you awake to study, but be careful. It is very easy to become addicted to any of that stuff. I'm lucky - I can stay awake for long periods of time on my own as long as I have something to do. As soon as i'm done though, I'm out like a light.
