Add Michael Finley (as a Mav), Don Nelson, Carmelo Anthony, Wally Z, and George Karl to the list. The shorter list is to find players around the league who actually dont think Bowen is dirty. Bowen definitely undercuts wing players who are going off on him for 40 plus points. It's a pretty unnatural defensive follow thru to slide your foot so far such that the shooter lands directly on your foot and it's awfully convenient that it only seems to happen in games when Bowen is getting lit up defensively. He needs to be suspended, no doubt. He's simply a disgrace to the principles of what basketball is all about. He's like one of the old scrubs you see in pickup games who has no game whatsoever so he resorts to playing dirty and outside the rules to try to level the playing field. The Spurs rings should have *'s not because of the strike season, but because they relied so heavily on Ginobili's flopping and Bowen's dirty play. Take those 2 elements out and that team is good, but not great.
Second time the Knick played Spurs this season. Second time a Knicks player landed on Bowen's foot after he took a jumpshot. This time Isiah calls out Bowen and argues with Poopo'witch. I hope Bowen permanently breaks his own leg somehow next time a player comes down on his foot.
Btw, the Francis incident is being invistigated by the NBA and Stu Jackson. Stu Jackson admitted that a foul should have been called on Bowen for that play. Foul??? He should be suspended for 10 games! Well atleast they are looking into it. I guess they are really worried that their posterchild Lebron or Wade might miss some games at Bowen's cost.
the only good reason i can see for a non-spurs fan to defend bowen on this leg-sticking-out thing that he does he if that person is a dirty basketball player himself. i just saw the francis replay, and if anybody thinks that was an accident, they are an idiot. he did it against jamal crawford again tonight! bowen comes off as a nice guy in interviews and stuff, but i cant have any respect for a guy who does that, no matter how good of a defender he is.
I am not a hateful person, but I've gotten to really hate this mofo. What a gutless person. He has no athletic ability to hang with the best players, so he resorts to harmful tactics. The only reason he's a good defender is because he can't play a lick on offense, so he can spend his entire energy kicking, scratching, punching, elbowing. Most players get called for fouls if they do what Bowen does. Because he has a reputation as a defensive player, referees let a lot of that extracurricular stuff go. He better not pull that sh't off with Tmac on Tuesday. I hope that the NBA does something. The Spurs can't win without that goon.

Its not a coincidence that VC, Carmelo, Ray Allen, and TMac have all had similar incidents when being defended by Bowen. As for your argument, there were entire games when Karl Malone wouldn't do anything dirty, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a dirty player.
What I'd like to see is a player pretend to do a jump shot while guarded by Bowen, pass off (or even intentionally fumble the ball) and then stomp their feet as hard as they can on Bowen's undercutting foot as they come down. Of course, that player would probably get suspended while Bowen wouldn't get called for crap. Still, it might make him think twice the next time.
thing is that he never jumps high enough for anyone to undercut him. i like subtomics suggestion and i have actually thought of it a couple of times when i play ball.
I said it before. I'll say it again. I HATE undercutters. Undercutting is the dirtiest play in basketball. The victim has no way to defend himself. It doesn't look violent. But it can cause career ending injuries. Malone and Bowen are the dirtiest players because they do a lot of undercutting. And yeah, Malone uses his elbows too.
Bowen is the most overrated defender in the history of the league. if you consider pushing pulling and grabbing, defense, then he's not. look at shane, hes a great defender, when has he pulled any close to what bowen has got away with. they should trade him to the mavs so i can hate them even more.
