Bowen is a dirty b*stard. When so many players try to fight him, you know something's up...and he's not a notorious trash talker. He's just dirty. I truly LOATHE Bruce Bowen. And it's not one of those "I hate Karl Malone" situations, because he's a Hall of Fame talent. Bowen is trash...and a little overrated as a defender. Give me Shane over Bowen anyday. US Basketball agrees with me, too...
man that youtube video made me go on a 30 minute nba fight video watching spree, but that aside, NBA has to do something about this guy before Rockets play Spurs. I don't want to see him do that stuff to T-mac or Rafer.
if bowen was on this team id seriously might have to go and shoot him during one of the games.. i just cant root for the rockets if that dirty ass no skilled player is on our team...
He obviously doesn't do it every single time, but he's injured numerous players by doing this and that doesn't count how often he does this and the player does not get hurt. The guys is a flat out scumbag for doing this. It's incredibly cheap and dirty to do what he's done and continues to do. He deserves a beatdown.
Do you actually have a defense for Bowen's dirty play? Can you justify/explain the number of ankles he's messed up on his dirty slide my foot under the jump shooter tactic? It's absolutely ridiculous. Steve Francis is going to be hobbling around because Bowen intentionally stuck his foot out while Francis shot a jumper. What kind of spineless person does this and continues to do this.
I don't mind Bowen because he does play lot of defense. i will love to see when T-Mac goes for clutch shots against him at 4th quarters
check this sh*t out: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/jack_mccallum/11/07/battier.bowen/index.html
from the article "The U.S. Olympic team brought to camp two tough-minded, defensive-oriented "glue guys" during the summer. Only Shane Battier stayed. Bruce Bowen wasn't happy about being cut, but as befitting his team-first 'tude, didn't complain about it publicly." I hope he isn't guarding shane when the play
Bowen plays dirty. So? It's effective a lot of the time and gets into people's heads. The refs don't call it right. Why not do it? Who the hell gives a **** about "dirty" when the action is effective and helps one's team win a game? The Broncos' O-line have broken a few ankles, but since Shanny became coach they have the best running game in the league in that time period. I don't give a **** that our O-line plays dirty. I love the results.
The NBA gets the videos, he hasn't gotten fined or suspended. He doesn't get called for alot of fouls - and the refs are watching. He plays his man tight, **** happens. Kobe LIKES playing against Bowen, and has faced him probably more than any player; has never complained. Vince Carter and Ray Allen (the most macho of NBA stars) are the only players to b**** about this. A couple of owners have; but the players don't. What this thread lacks - links to ANY video that demonstrates what all of the posters are so sure happens ALL the time. If it happens that much, ought to be easy to find, right? (I'm sure now the Szerbiak kick will be what shows up, right) In the playoffs a couple of years back Allen claimed Bowen broke his ankle, replays showed it was his own player. Post it; then discuss.
i don't mind the in-your-face defense, but undercutting a player when they shoot is BS. It doesn't have to happen all the time. One time is all it takes to permanently put a player's body at risk. Versus Carter You can see that he turns his back and puts his body while Carter is in mid-air. Y'all can probably try and say that "oh he had momentum so he couldn't stop himself". Please, if you play basketball long enough, you know 1. you can stop yourself from making contact most of the time and 2. you don't move your body towards the shooter like that unless you wanted to do it intentionally Versus Bryant I don't know about you, but I can see that Bowen does put his foot under Kobe a total of 4 times. And no, I did not count the times the same shot was replayed. There are two instances when the Lakers were at home, and twice again when the Spurs were at home. Bowen also does the "I'll-move-my-back-into-you-while-you're-shooting" move in the first half of the clip. It may not be 4 times for y'all, but it's at least twice.
Check again what Kobe said about Bowen. BTW, he did hurt Kobe once, although not severely. More importantly, check what TD said about him when asked whether he sometimes plays dirty. VC and Allen are the only one complained? You got to check your facts first.
