I don't care for the guy and I still think Yao is being mishandled. But I got to to give this team credit they looked good as of late and especially tonight... They are playing team basketball and more importantly they are improving. And since it looks like we are stuck with the little dictator I won't be doing any Van Gundy bashing as long as they show a good effort out there.

The truth is it is very difficult to hate the coach and root for the team. So I am just going to have to figureout a way to block the guy out. Maybe put a thumb over him or something so I don't see him on the screen. But Anyway GREAT WIN!!! Go Rockets!!!!

    OMR,

I am right there with you. I don't care for JVG much and I still don't believe he is the right coach for the team. The only thing that I was hoping for was that JVG changed his system to fit the players and adapt to the players that he has to work with it.

Well the last couple of games he has done. All I can hope is that he continues to do that and not revert back to his old self.

The thing I like about JVG is that we know that he will usually come up with a solid defensive gameplan. Our D was horrible in the first half, but then we made adjustments at halftime that helped shut Dirk down. Now that we are playing a more up-tempo offense and scoring a lot of points, the main complaint from many fans has been fixed.

Would this thread exist if Juwon/Taylor only scored 5 pts?

We could have lost the game, and still scored 100 pts. Good defense then?

    I'm with you, OM Rock.

Great win. Fun basketball. We really seemed to be getting something from everybody important.

I will even go so far as to give VG credit. Seems like he has the horses to push the ball, now. Seems like it works.

I'll put my own 1-week kybosh on JVG bashing, to celebrate.

Grumps even had that good fan gesture on the radio game show this past week. Gold star for grumps.

Love the running, hate slow-it-down, love the shooting over 100 pts, still would love to see Yao mix in high-post dealing like Walton, but all in all a good week.

    OMR,

They have been doing that at the offensive end for quite a few games now. They did shoot exceptionally well last night, which is also a result of better movement, both ball and players without ball.

What they did better than past a few wins was their defense. Wesley was great at anticipating the Mavs plays, created quite a few good plays for himself, and the team. Now everyone should understand that David might be on par with JJ as an offensive player, but he is a far superior defensive player; plus, the guy used to play PG, so he handles ball better, passes better.

Yao was great at helping defense as well, he rotated well, blocked/altenated quite a few shots. Even Howard did a decent job guarding Dirk, I saw him always tried to put his hands up to make it tough for Dirk.

There will be games we won't shoot as well, but the defense will always be there for us, that's good enough to win many games in this league.

You drew the line in the sand. You can't put one foot over. You either get your azz over the line or start heading for the border.
