Just feel the strange need to share with you guys and girls.

Well after 9 months of studying, taking test and being an apprentice, I’m finally a 100% bonified (sp?) Real Estate Inspector. I took my state exam yesterday and passed ( damn that test is tuff ) Anyway, if anyone has any questions about a house you looking to buy or need a inspection in the Houston area, maybe I can help.

So, what are your primary responsibilities as inspector and what are areas a home buyer can't assume you have inspected well or at all?

Everything, from the foundation to the chimney. There is a Texas
Standards of Practice we have to follow.

It's just the things we cannot see or have direct access, we cannot give an opinion of performance on those items.

    SJ,

Try to keep in touch with me. The wife is a realtor and is always looking for good inspectors.

Rockets Red Glare's wife is also a realtor and works in the same office that my wife does.

Congrats. I hear those tests and the certification is not a cake walk.

Thanks, I'll let you know when I'm ready, I prefer to work in Spring/Woodlands area, but I will go anywhere. Where is your wife’s office?

Her office is in Memorial/Town & Country. However, most of her clients (relocation) are buying in the Spring/Woodlands area/NW/Cypress area.

To be honest, she has an inspector she has been pretty happy with. However, sometimes he is not available so she always needs a good backup and if he ever screws up, you are in (she works on a team of 5 people ;) ).

Of course, she won't be back working till later this year, but she can pass on your info to the rest of her teamates.

Well not to burst your bubble, but I think the test was a sham.

Why would you want to be a real state inspector? I don't see much you can do with that degree.:p

No problem, I understand. It will take some time to build up a consistent client base, but there is more that enough work out there. I'm great with people and very customer serviced oriented so I should be rolling in the dough in no time. :D

I'm going to be working for Inspector's Referral Service, they have been around a long time and have a great reputation, maybe you wife has heard of them.

Don,t know, that's a good question. Inspectors do very well, I think it would be hard to do both. ( time wise )
