Australia suffers several major issues, a big one being human trafficking, which is the most disgusting thing you can do to a person.

Root causes of trafficking to Australia

    In Countries of Origin
    - Poverty
    - Lack of access to education
    - Lack of access to employment
    - Lack of a chance to make a life
    - Responsibility for family members
    - Excitement at the prospect of travel
    - Family circumstances –violence, assault, male-dominated family structures.

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=australia sucks

Oh look, a thread that isn't anti-Islam in the D&D.

    Yeah, I don't like being a troll.

Consider this post my retirement. I honestly don't know where you guys find the time to do it. I don't dislike anything that much.

A thread that isn't anti-Islamic? Lol, how wrong you are.

Nice list of the root causes, btw...what countries are you referring to in that list?

You also failed to mention the nationality and religion of 95% (estimated) of the people illegally trafficked into the country.

Along with failing to mention which Islamic countries either they refused to claim asylum in on their way to this great Southern Land of Hospitality, or the Islamic countries that rejected their fellow brothers of the Islamic Ummah's application for asylum.

Do you know what is the nationality and religion of the smugglers / traffickers is?

Is human trafficking bad, not to mention dangerous? Yes it is.
Now ask yourself who is profiting from this illeagal practice.

    One guess...

    BTW...

And for those of you who think that I hate boat people, a Vietnamese refugee who migrated here on a boat with his family, was the best man at my wedding.

    He said many. Not all.

There have been countless threads basically insinuating the same, exact thing. This has been going on for years. Long before you showed up. Everyone knows about the bad apples. Everyone knows how certain people miscontrue religions to do some outlandish things.

There are certain trends that are too obvious to miss. I like ATW. I think he's a swell guy but it's no coincidence that he was the one of the first ones in here criticizing the OP. I don't agree with the premise of the thread but I found it to be midly amusing.

...I'm sorry dude, but once you care this much about a poster or a poster's habits, you fail. Keep it on the issues.

The only personal complaint I have about Australia is that they're a legal and constitutional oddity.

Australia has neither a constitutional or legislative bill of rights. While certain freedoms are safeguarded, even something like freedom of speech rests on an implied assumption rather than an explicit statement.

    http://www.findlaw.com.au/articles/4529/do-we-have-the-right-to-freedom-of-speech-in-austr.aspx

It's probably a minus in my book, but hey, who knows. Maybe parliamentary supremacy and judicial ambiguity in this case IS better than Roberts et. al deciding all that they please.

I tend to agree with sammy and Northside Storm.

kind of lame. and like ATW said, if you proclaim your retirement, you can't reply to the next post.

    now, that being said...
that'll show 'em. you make this anti-Islamic why don't you!

    it's "illegal"

what the heck is a "boat person"?

    Boat People...

What makes the journey more dangerous than it already is, is the fact that they tend to scuttle their sea craft in shark infested waters, forcing our navy to rescue them. And also the area's which they come to are surrounded by dangerous currents and reefs, a few boats have crashed into the rocky coastline.

They have also been known to toss their identification papers overboard, as well as their children...once again to initiate 'rescues'.

Oh, btw...didn't make it an anti-Islamic thread, just stating the facts.

Sex Trafficking is a horrible problem all over the world - moreso in many countries than in Australia. Australias main traffic is adult Korean women. Houstons traffic is mainly UNDERAGE GIRLS. As a matter of fact, Houston is a Major Hub of sex trafficking in the US.

focusing on Australia for sex trafficking is silly - especially when its just to get back at another poster. You'd be better off focusing on small countries like Moldavia. They have significantly more problems with sex trafficking.

For those that don't know much about the subject - Here is Christine Cain (yes, she is Australian) talking about the issue. We give a lot of support to this ministry and they really do help a lot of girls. The A21 campaign rescues girls, lobbies for laws in countries that ignore the problems, give counseling and job training / life skills to former slaves. One of the largest problems is the lack of laws and the corrupt government officials in the countries where the trafficked girls originate from. A21 has been effective in many places with altering laws and forcing the enforcement of those laws. Its a great organization.

honestly, have never heard refugees referred as boat people like that.

    must be an Australian thing.

no, I know, you only refuted the notion of this thread being anti-Islamic and then quickly shifted the gears to make it so...

    carry on
