Wolf Blitzer asked Dean if the Iraqis are better off without Saddam.

Dean replied, "We don't know that yet. We don't know that yet, Wolf. We still have a country whose city is mostly without electricity. We have tumultuous occasions in the south where there is no clear governance. We have a major city without clear governance."

I guess that in Dean's warped mind is tyranny preferable to candlelight.

    Your right he's a 'tard.

He received his B.A. from Yale University in 1971 and his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City in 1978. He served in the Vermont House from 1982 to 1986; was elected lieutenant governor in 1986, and became governor in 1991...

Did you even bother to realize that he was stating that anarchy in a major city is worse than government, even by a dictator?

Do you read the newspaper? There is no "anarchy" currently in any major Iraqi city.

Next defense of Dean's idiotic statement please.

btw, love your defense of Dean using his academic credentials. How does a Yale undergrad with a Harvard MBA rate in your world?

He said that right now we don't know. Which is true. He didn't say that in the future they won't be better off. But under Saddam, they did have jobs, electricity, hospitals etc. I'm nost saying that having Saddam is better than not having him, just that as things stand right now, We don't know!

Neither what I said or what Dean said is an endorsement of Saddam, or any indication that either of us believe that people would have been better off spending their whole lives uner Hussein.

By the way Mulder, I would never use the word "tard". Maybe the same guys attacking Rick Santorum in the other thread should talk to you about "sensitivity".

First, you actually going to trust the liberal media. I'm shocked. Secondly, with power grabs coming from several different groups in Iraq, when the United States Military leaves who will be in charge exactly? Thirdly, I would consider both prestigious Universities. What's your point exactly? I don't recall saying that anyone was an idiot. I left the name calling to you.

Yes, that sounded a little weird to me as well.

Perhaps we could start a new thread....weird college names, or fictional weird college names.

    How about..

The Bobby Knight College of Brotherly Love
The Roseanne Barr College of National Anthem Singing
The Bruce Willis College of Shakespearean Acting

    Any others?

Here's a link to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. It's a branch of Yeshiva University, which brings us to the $64,000 question...

    Yeshiva University? :)

So the fact that we don't know who will be running Iraq doesn't factor into the question that we don't know if Iraq will be better off without Saddam. Granted, he was a completely evil vindictive, cold hearted weasel of a leader. Isn't it possible, however, that since we don't know who will be running the country it could be worse? Just maybe?

I am extremelly impressed by the President's academic background. I am also completely dumbfounded at times when he says things that do not reflect that background.

Mulder, the question was whether or not Iraq is better off RIGHT NOW, not in the future.

By the way, Dean and Santorum BOTH need to see a specialist to have their feet removed from their big mouths.

These guys don't have what it takes to succeed in Presidential/Senatorial politics if they won't think about the consequences of what they say.

Funny I don't see right now in the question and Dean qualified his answer by saying we don't know yet.

BTW I am really pleased when politicians shoot from the hip like Santorum did. Their true colors show through better that way. :p

Well, compared to inferior candlelight, sure. Because, you know, without electricity it would be really hard to make ice cream.

    :)
