Singers like Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, so on and so forth can scream amazingly melodically. It really adds to the force of a song, and it's quite badass. What I wonder is if there's a technique to it? Or is it just a "you have it or you don't" thing? Anyone know? Chance maybe?

Odd you should ask as I have been practicing a guttural scream for some time. I used it on Am I There Yet and again on Vandy's intro. (http://users3.ev1.net/~beckymc/vandyshow.mp3)

Frank from lemonenemy helped me harness the scream and to get it on pitch and not go hoarse. I used a TON of air and backed waaaaay up from the mic. I know that doesn't help much but it works for me and I can do it all night now.
