Your start up and shut down sounds on Windows XP? What kind of files are these? Where can I get some good ones to download and use on my pC?

to change them you go into the Control Panel and click on the "Sound and Audio Devices" option. When that screen loads up click on the "Sound" tab at the top. There you'll see a list of your various sounds. There will be an option towards the bottom that allows you to browse. When you find a replacement sound, save it to the computer, use the browse option to find it, then just overwrite the existing sound.

Search Google Groups too for troubleshooting. I find a lot of good info there.

Troubleshooting sites often tell you where to go to make changes. Many of those sites offer the information you need. For example, "Hey, my start up and shut down sounds no longer work in Windows... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (<--- level of cluelessness is usually exponentially related to the exclamation points in the request). That would lead you to how someone solved that problem. Oddly enough "troubleshooting" doesn't necessarily mean you have to have "troubles" before attempting the solution.

BTW, what did you search for? I searched for what you wanted and the 3rd result nailed where I'd need to go for the solution.

    LMAO.

I used to use the south park song and timmy song but I don't like the show that much any more.

IMO, the best way to find something you want is to phrase it as you want to read it, b/c a search engine takes your input and searches for that query, and it alos searches the same word tense (past, present, future). So a better query could have been "changing statup sound XP". Except for without the quotes b/c with quotes the engine searches for the exact phrase in that exact order.

usually you can go into the settings for the player that you would like to make your default and find a setting that makes it the default player. Or you may see a list of files that are either checked or unchecked like

    MP3
    WAV
    WMA

etc... just check the boxes of the formats you want the player to control and you'll be good to go.

As a last resort you can always reinstall the program you want to be your default player and at the end it'll ask you if you want it to be your default player, or it'll display the same "Files" i talked about above.

Contol Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults > Custom

if you want to change which Media player opens which file you can change it within the options or preference menu of the player
