Instead of signing hakeem for a lucrative contract and instead of worrying ab hurting our chemistry by signing webber, why don't we go out and sign antonio davis for our center and a bo outlaw for a solid role player who won't worry ab scoring and getting touches? Then our lineup could be as follows: First team Pg Francis Sg Mobley SF Griffen Pf Taylor C Davis Second team Pg Moochie Sf Bullard Pf/C Outlaw C Collier Sf- Morris Sf- Wizard ------------------
I think the Rockets can get one or the other. Outlaw will be traded for practically nothing only if Davis goes to Orlando. I think Outlaw would be a good addition since he can play the 4 or 5 position. Sign Hakeem for $5-6 million, Moochie, and Mo Taylor. Trade a pick to the Magic for Outlaw. Then put Cato on the IR. PG Francis/Moochie SG Mobley SF Morris/Langhi/Griffin/Williams PF Taylor/KT C Olajuwon/Outlaw/Collier IR Cato Real thin at PG/SG since the Rockets have too many forwards. Unfortunately I don't think the Rockets can unload any of them to other teams. ------------------
You think Griffin's going to play behind a starting Morris and Langhi? ???? ------------------ Protrolls.com! "I want to be like Olajon." -Sagana Diop has the right idea...
I would rather the Rockets not go for Davis, he is going to want a lot more money than he is really worth. Last year, he was in the East on a mediocre team, plus he had a career year, so it boosted his stock. Kind of funny how players have career years right before they become free agents. ------------------ Who needs teachers? I can learn my own self.
i wouldnt count on outlaw contributing much at the center position out west. yes, i know in the east he got some minutes there, but 6'8''/210 lbs doesnt cut it for a center in the west. ------------------
I expect Williams has value to other teams - it's just when we try to package Cato with him that they run screaming from the bargaining table. The funny thing about it is that they both have the possiblity of contributing to the Rockets this season. Williams can bring the stability of a veteran in a position we have overloaded with youth - not to mention the value of an outside shot against the zone. Cato could live up to his potential for a change...doesn't he have a free agent year coming up in the next 5 years to shoot for? ---------------- I try to Believe - Cato just makes it soo hard! Seeing how tight Francis and Morris are I figured he would get to start. Just kidding. I was just listing the players, not in any order though. Outlaw has a huge wingspan and can play center if needed. And if Orlando sign Davis, he will be one the first to go since he has a large contract and can free up some cap space quickly. ------------------
Physically, 6'8" and 210 barely cuts it at SF. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Outlaw would love to play in houston also because this is his home town. I've got some friends that use to play ball with him at the playgrounds. can you believe they said he actually has a good jump shot when he's on the court! I guess he just loses confidence when he's in front of a crowd. And his real name is Charles. ------------------
I would to modify SlamN ( good suggestion ) to pursue Bo Outlaw. Instead of resigning Maurice Taylor, just Resign Hakeem Olajuwon and go for Bo Outlaw. I think the Rockets' have missed a good rebounder( having had Otis Thorpe before). Outlaw replacing Taylor would better complement Francis, Mobley and the rookies Griffin and Morris. Now about the chance to get Webber... ...that's a long shot... pursue Webber after resigning Hakeem and acquiring Outlaw ------------------
merlin- davis and outlaw would be nice but, they both may be too small to play center in the west. i would like for us to re-sign our free agents, and trade for lafrentz. ------------------
The Rockets have the potential of a great trade in front of them if they choose to participate in the addition of AD to Orlando. We have the very sought after cap room that Orlando craves and they have some players that we could really use to add depth to our front court. One possible scenario (1)is: sign A. Davis to the terms Orlando agrees and package Cato along for Outlaw, Mike Miller, Darrell Armstrong, and Ameamichi. Scenario (2):sign and trade A.D. for Outlaw and Ameamichi. The secound scenario is more realistic and would really help at both C and PF. Another positive is Ameamichi would be a FA (along with Walt and Langhi) after next year so we could resign him or go another route. 1:Francis, Norris 2:Mobley, W. Williams, Morris 3:Griffin, Bullard, Langhi 4:Taylor, Outlaw, KT 5 ream, Ameamichi, Cato, Collier Thats 15 players with 2 on IR, you can guess who. ------------------

You're not allowed to do a sign and trade with another team's free agent. ------------------
Aelliott, what if we sign him july 18, wait two or three months, then do the trade. I believe we have to hold a player for at least 60 days before we can trade him. ------------------
Arguing the nuances of the CBA with aelliott? You must be new around here. Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! Resistance is futile....you will be assimilated. Start more Webber threads!
Not only can you not to that, you'd have to be on crack to think the Magic would trade all three of those players for Davis and especially Cato. Miller and Armstrong are untouchable, and while it'll probably mean Orlando doesn't land Davis, all the better for the Magic. ------------------
