On ESPN insider it mentions a couple of players on the block and one of those players in Ron Artest. I havn't seen him play a whole lot but the stats he puts up are pretty impressive.

    15.5 pts
    5.8 rbs
    .469% FG%
    .436% 3P%
    29.9 min

How good of a defensive player is he? If he can play decent Defense I think he could be a good fit for the rockets.

Ron is averaging 15 a game this season????? Damn he has come a long way. I haven't seen him play too much this year but I remember his rookie season he was pretty lousy. He would be a nice pick up but I want to see if Rashard is serious about coming here.

Apparantly, he's a good defender in the mold of Doug Christie and Eddie Jones, which is a good thing. He needs to show that his FG% increase is a permanent thing for me to become interested in him, though. Up until now, he hasn't been able to shoot worth a damn.

He is a very good defender, but if i had to pick out of him or Robinson, i'll take Robinson. Artest is playing for a contract so now all of a sudden he's gets a half as offensive game. It was funny, but he said he was on his way to becoming a All Star :D . Being a swingman in the east is like beaing a 4 in the west. Its so many good ones, someone will be left out. The problem is, he's not anywhere close to th guys ahead of him.

Why did Artest talk so much trash to Jordan???? I was reading alot of articles where he was calling Jordan out. In order to call Jordan out you better be in the Francis,Iverson,Bryant,Carter,R.Allen, Pierce class. You can't be Ron Artest and call out a player like Mike.

If we can get Artest I would be ecstatic. I love his defense and his athletic abilities. He shutdown Kobe and Paul Pierce. His offense is questionable because he is on the Bulls. 15pts on a bad team is not as good as 15 on a good team.

Artest gets boards, 2 + steals/game, some blocks, assists..good all around SF. ONly problem is, if EG will continue to play SF, then Artest, wouldn't get any playing time.

If he cant consistently knock down the three then I dont expect Rudy to even think about him.

Since he is shooting at a %42. I don't think that will be a problem...

What would he do for us? I think we need to ask ourselves whether any trade scenario will get us to the next level? If it does then we should consider it. Artest will not get us to the playoffs.

Since defending swingman like Kobe, Vince, AI, and MJ has always been a problem for us, he would help enough win games. His defense is much better than Shandon and his offense is much better than Walt Williams. He is the perfect SF for our team. He definately would get us to the next level and he is the same age as Francis...

Artest is very good on defense but average at best on the offensive end. He is Not a very good shooter. Actually, he looks a little awkward on offense. He sort of reminds me of a smaller Rodman. Very active. Not a great leaper but hustles his arse off. He tends to lay the ball up rather than dunk it.

One more thing. He is a complimentary player. In my opinion, the 7th or 8th best player on a team. He would not take Rice's minutes next year hence would not make a big enough impact on this team. We are a center away!

Cato's been playing great. We don't need anything else, but a perfectly healthy team.
