He has been playing pretty during FIBA. His FG is 10/10 so far, and he looked pretty good against Yao yesterday, he was able to hold his position well cause he's got a lot of muscle.

hey t-mike, nice to read you on this board. it's allways cool to see that some other germans find their way to the best rockets site you can find on the www. :)

man liest sich demnächst wohl wieder auf sportforen.de. ;)

back to topic: out of the greek team, probably diamantidis could be a solid nba player.

I like the greek player 'BABY SHAQ', although I don't like his nick name! He would be so great playing along side of Yao Ming, Just the sort of player that we have been looking for for several seasons. The team would be almost complete with his addition. Y :p

That's some good Cajun food. :D These Greek players are going to (kill Bill) Worrell. Can you imagine him trying to pronounce these names? :D

Bring back Van Chancellor and Calvin Murphy!

Flamescreen, we appreciate your candidness, however, it shows that you have a lot to learn about the NBA. Your compatriot Mr. Papadopolous is inconsistent and not very strong? No, no, my friend,no... watch me how it is done:

"Papa is a legit 7 footer with great size, nimble footwork and tons of upside. His basketball IQ is off the charts and he is a proven winner. When he adds some upper body strength he will be unstopable inside. There is no doubt that with XXXX and his infectous work ethics (insert your overhyped and overpaid franchise player here) as a teammate, Papa will find the motivation he needs to go out there and perform every single night... " if you feel on a roll you weave here phrases like "developing jump-hook that will be lethal", and "automatic from 15 feet" however, it is up to you. Also don't forget to mention that he can "run up and down the floor and has great court vision", these last two things sound really good and can be used for everyone who is not a paraplegics, mortally obesse or legally blind.

This, my friend, is how it has been done here ever since the immortal Jim McIlvaine...

    This thread is classic!

Let's see just 10 short years ago the Greek national team got in a huge argument with flight attendants coming over from Athens to Atlanta for the olympic games because they could not smoke on an international flight.

Fast forward 10 years and we are talking about multiple Greek players on the Rockets SWEET!

    LOL!
Truth is I could have said that, but you know, basketball players nowadays can be considered kinda one of the country's products(not to diminish people to that, but lacking a more appropriate term to describe what's in my mind).

In a grocery shop, I could potentially sell you a product that's not that good, but you'd distrust me as a salesman everafter. For instance your description, is perfect for one of our previous attemts, Efthimios Rentzias which tried a few years back with great hope, but zero results. More or less, he was much like Jinlian is for China now.

Plus i'd like to be proud of the players we have in the worlds top championship. There is no point to have any player in a teams roster, if they will not play. I hope these players can prove me wrong, but chances are even less than the players I stated are fit for the NBA.(Think of Divac, Kukoc or the late great Drazen Petrovic, Europe's best players at the time--took them a few years to adjust.)

Greece actually was 5th in the Atlanta Olympics, so we always had good players.

The guy who wanted to smoke on the plane (and yes it was only one guy and his name was Fanis Christodoulou) was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks at a time when no one in the NBA would sign foreign players. He was actually an amazing player, he could play 5 positions, but he had weight issues and he didn't like going to practice much either ;)
He was still a great player though. He was if I remember correctly voted in the all-tournament team in World Championship of 1994 in Toronto.

I don't think it will be televised.

As for Papadopoulos, I think he can play in the NBA (just look at all those crap 7-footers who play in the NBA) but I really don't think he's a good fit for the Rockets. What the Rockets need IMO is a defensive PF who does the dirty work.

yasou, I am Greek too. I was just joking around.

BTW-many Greek players have had the game to come over but have not because Greece is such a nice place and they did not want to leave.

^I believe Greece's current coach Yannakis was a Celtics draft, for instance, and they really wanted him. If anyone here is aware of him, he tried and succeeded as I see it, make a team of palyers that think and play like him, quite the accomplishement - for me.

I think the Rockets could find some room in their roster for Diamantidis, if they could convince him to leave Europe for NBA. Sofo wouldn't mingle well, as I see it. But I don't want to promote the Greeks to come to the NBA. It's the scouters work to do this.

They're supposed to spot things we cannot. And work for the team needs. For instance Shaq is a huge player, but why would the rockets want him, if they could get Nowitzki instead. Dirk would be more useful. Though Greeks are far from both players in quality ofcourse, LOL(I can't believe I used this for comparison!)
