The safe pick is Granger. I went with him because if the Rockets trade for him, they know he'll put up good numbers, shoot solid percentages, and he'll be here for the next few years.

Melo would easily be my choice if he's willing to sign an extension... I just don't see any reason to give up young assets for a guy that will be here for just one season, though.

They may take a small step back after what happened with LBJ, but that shouldn't change the fact that NY is still looking to do big things.

Sure, NY would have to give up a lot for them, but is it worth it? Heck Yeah!

I wouldn't want that to happen for our picks sake; but NY would be foolish to not look into it.

Miami might have started a nasty trend. I hope I'm wrong. Only time will tell.

Definitely Melo, not even close imo. CP3 is the 2nd best PG in the NBA, but I would prefer a perimeter player like Melo

Paul because there are already grumblings that he may want out and the Hornets want to dump Okafor's contract as well. Both of those pieces are ideal for us. We get our go to playmaker and backup athletic defensive center who could even replace Yao in case of injuries. Best way to do this would be a three way deal moving AB to another team like Indiana and then maybe Dunleavy, Murphy, young talent, picks to NO.

NO does it because CP3 wants out, they would get expirings from us and Murphy or Dunleavy are good talents and also expiring as well as maybe players like Bud or Hill, picks, and get rid of Okafor's contract.

Indiana gets their much needed PG in AB without giving up Granger just dumping an expiring contract or two.

We of course are the salary dumping ground for Okafor, and get CP3.

With the signing of Brad Miller, our roster is complete. Our roster is so deep that in a trade with one of these guys would give us a solid 8 to 9-man championship caliber rotation.

I have to say Melo, but I get the sense that Morey will go after CP3.

It's not their their choice. If they come to Houston it'll be through trade.

Seems we are split on all three. Melo has a chip on his shoulder: still trying to be mentioned with Kobe, Lebron, and Dwade.

What if we trade for Carmelo and he leaves? Even if we get assurances, how can we be sure he won't change his mind? Plus, if he wants to leave Denver then I doubt Houston would be his preferred choice. We'd have to be tearing up the West for him to want to join us.

All this goes double for Chris Paul. I think the writing is on the wall, folks. It's going to be tough to convince a star to choose Houston over NY or LA or Chicago. In the NBA, glamor comes before anything else, and you can thank ESPN for that.

Pretty sure Morey knows the pros and cons. If he gets the chance to trade for Melo, he'll make sure Melo would sign an extension. With Yao healthy, we'd be instant contenders with Melo on board, so why would he choose not to stay? To go to the Knicks? Please...

This is a pipe dream but a fun fantasy thread.

Chris paul is the only one with a killer instinct. The guy absolutely hates to lose. Look up the bowling game he played with lebron, when he lost he was very pissed. He is also thinking about leaving the hornets if they dont' do something to help the team win talent wise. You can't teach competitive fire, you have it or you don't (aka heart).

You could win a championship with that guy as one of your leaders, he steps up and loves pressure situations against players just as good as him (check his playoff performance a few years ago)the other two I'm not sure. The only thing is will he recover from the knee injury and be the same player, if so Chris paul for sure.

The problem is we already have solid talent at point guard, so Granger would probably be the most realistic, like how we got kmart.

I have no clue why you all would want Melo outside of the highlight reals he would rack up for us. I'd for sure take Granger over Melo. Granger is almost as good on offense(at a more efficient rate I'll add) and actually plays defense...AND comes much cheaper and is kinda realistically obtainable compared to Melo. Of course, my 1st choice would be CP....seems to want out and is obtainable...and the perfect true PG that Yao needs to play against the fronting defenses.

Good luck trying to get Cook from the Clippers, they gonna lock him up with a max contract. Besides that we don't need a player that dominates at all positions. :p

I wouldn't go after Melo. I'd be too scared he'd be a half-a-year rental that Denver would trade by the deadline and then he could jet for NY at the end of the season to play with Amare or something.

If we could convince him to extend his contract and stay with us and play alongside Yao and K-Mart for a few years and contend for championships great, but if not..... then naw, I wouldn't want him.

I think any star player like that (plus the rest of the world) would have to see how wow we fair with a healthy Yao for a whole season first. The future of Rockets and our potential to land any "superstar" caliber play rests on the ability of Yao to avoid a major injury this season. We all know it.

I think rocket eagerly need a guy who has a crossover ability. Neither Arisa nor Battier is not competent for this.
Though Brooks couldn't have the good pass, Lorry make up for him.I'm set my mind at rest on the PG position.
Antony will be a good candidate !! IMO

And the winner is... Hmm interesting to see how effective Adelman's system would be with a top tier PG in Chris Paul.

Main targets would be - Gerald Wallace, Marc Gasol, or Marcin Gortat.

Gerald Wallace would be a guy with heart that can do everything on the floor rebound, block shots, & score. He is a Laker killer, brings alot of what Ariza brings but better. Trade Battier, Budinger, Anderson, & picks

Marc Gasol would be a backup plan if Yao goes down again and lets face it, if it happens again he is probably calling it a career. Gortat would be a back plan too if Gasol cannot be had.
