I'm finished with my grief and misery enough to actually type this. But the guy's amazing. He put on the most dominating performance I've seen in a close game... well, maybe ever. Our team was 2nd in the Big East in sacks. Not a great pass rush, but pretty decent. We TOUCHED Dorsey twice. never came close to a sack. He was sitting in the pocket 7-8 seconds routinely. McKinnie was taking out two guys on certain plays. Simply unbelievable. Incidentally, what's up with the Dorsey hype? The guy sucks. We dropped back in zone coverage after the pass rush failed, and intercepted him 4 times. And he couldn't even complete 50% of his passes. Miami didn't have an offensive TD. Of course, when Brian St. Pierre throws interceptions on 1st and goal, the other team doesn't need to .
Gee haven, that is a little harsh, isn't it?? So, he had a bad game, it happens sometimes. That doesn't mean he sucks..he just sucked today. Yes, BC did an excellent job in confusing him. From what I read, it seems that BC rushing only 4 completely threw him for a loop, plus you have to factor in the wind as well. If he sucks so bad, then how was he able to throw like he did last season when the Canes beat BC 52-6?? However, Miami was lucky to win today & BC played their asses off. They definitely deserved a win more than Miami did today.
Manny: Dorsey's QB rating is pretty damned low. When you have an offensive line like that, there's absolutely no way it should be what his is. He's gotten credit for winning, but I think that's more a function of the rest of the team. Last year... well, having Santana Moss & Co can make any team look good. Just throw it to them, and let them do the work.
Manny, Now you see how it feels to be a Chris Simms fan. Dorsey threw for about 200 yards, was picked off 4 times, and generated no offensive touchdowns against a defense that was destroyed by Stanford earlier this season. Simms did the same thing against one of the best college defenses ever, and was ripped apart by fans. He's been about the best QB in the country since. Now most everyone is singing his praises. They will learn Manny, not everyone has patience and takes into account that bad games happen.
Simms still needs to have a great game against a great team to completely convince me. Don't get me wrong, I've always been a Simms-backer in the QB controversy, but I'm not sure he's done too much yet. If he has a big game in the BCS or in a high-tier bowl, he should be the favorite for the Heisman next year. Incidentally, your corner backs are wonderful, too. That first interception they took was incredible. Wasn't a matter of St. Pierre throwing a bad pass... it was dead on and would have been a TD against most defenses (DeWalt only had to beat his man, then was gone, and he's a speedster), but the Miami player leaped high enough to reach DOWN to intercept the pass that was in front of Dewalt. Made my eyes pop. I'm not a Miami hater. I hope they do well simply because it reflects well on the Big East. But Dorsey has looked sub-par all year, and he finally played a half-decent defense w/o Santana and his buddies... and looked bad. Cat: Our defense ain't bad, generally. Stanford was by far our worst game of the year. Lenny Walls is an excellent pro prospect and the other guys are all respectable.
Agreed. I want McKinnie to be a Texan. He is a franchise OT with whom you can build your OL around. The game is won in the trenches, and if we don't get McKinnie, I want to get DE Peppers or DT John Henderson.
haven, I'll agree that Santana Moss and Reggie Wayne made a big difference compared to what Miami has now. Andre Johnson is the only really good WR Miami has now (BTW - was he hurt..I didn't see him at all today). And I'm not arguing about Dorsey sucking today. However, I got the impression that you feel that he sucks period and that is unfair, IMO, to base that on one game. If you base things on one bad game, then no one is going to be good because even Michael Jordan or Steve Francis (i.e. Friday night) will be off. Granted, Rex Grossman is having an incredible season and Dorsey has not played the toughest competition this season but that is fixing to change. Obviously, if he plays against Syracuse, Washington, and VA Tech like he did today, then Miami will probably lose. I will wait and see how he does in those games before labelling him as "sucky". Remember, he is Miami's all-time leader in touchdown passes which is pretty damn impressive considering that he is ahead of Kosar, Kelly, Testaverde (he sucked because he couldn't win the big game), Walsh, and Gino Torretta. And you can argue that it was because of his receivers but someone had to get the ball to them, didn't they? Cat: that Stanford game was at Stanford and that makes a huge difference because it's on the road for BC and there's no wind to contend with plus Miami just had a bad game. It happens sometimes. Their changing their defense up really threw Dorsey and the Canes for a loop. That was one reason why Clinton Portis had so many yards rushing today.

(Yes, I know the Oregon game was a narrow loss, but you can't blame him for Roy and BJ dropping wide open touchdowns three times)
I realise most of you guys are not PennState fans,or have probably not seen much,if any of their games,but I am VERY impressed with Zach Mills. The kid is a soph that was pressed into action very unexpectedly,+has shown a vast amount of potential in the games he has played thus far. IMO,he's played as well as any QB in the nation over the last month.

Simms has the better completion percentage and leads in most categories, but he has also played 2 more games than Dorsey. If you look at averages, they are about the same. It's interesting to note that both had one game where they completed less than 50% of their passes and both had one game in which they threw 4 interceptions. However, this is not about who is better - Dorsey or Simms. They will both be great NFL quarterbacks, IMO. It is about your assertion that Dorsey has been mediocre all year when that is obviously not true. Yes, he hasn't played well in his last 3 games, but Miami is still winning. Did Gino Torretta ever have dazzling stats? I don't think he had many 300 yds games in his career at Miami. So, Dorsey will probably not win the Heisman and yes he has been mediocre by his standards the last 3 games. But to say he's been mediocre all season when presented with his stats and a similar player in Simms is a statement that I not only disagree with but wonder how you can say something like that.
