I went to Cy Creek back when it was just us, Cy Farm, and Jersey Village. Now, it seems like there are 12 schools that start with "Cy" and 12 schools that end with "Creek" that have sprung up over the last 10 years and raided the original 3. Cy Creek used to be the rich preps when I was there. Now, I think it's pretty thuggish.
i'll be coming to houston this summer for my 20 year reunion, hastings class of '86. the event will be held, logically, in memorial.
Bellaire Senior High graduate here, class of...... As far as what was posted about Bellaire, well, it's the same as it was when I went, except that the rich kids lived in Meyerland and the poor kids lived in Bellaire at the time. One thing that never ceases to amaze me about moving back to Houston is how the city of Bellaire has become such a high dollar neighborhood now. When I was a kid, we used to pity the kids who lived in Bellaire, because they were poor.
I grew up in Bellaire. I used to live on Jaquet, which is the street with the little park on 610 and Elm. I used to ride my bike to Don's Record Shop and buy KISS albums with my allowance money! I went to Cunningham elementary, then moved to the 'burbs before jr high. Most of the houses on my street have been torn down and replaced with David Weekly type homes. I don't even recognize my old stomping grounds anymore.
You are bringing back some serious childhood memories, ima. I miss Don....and his record shop. RIP Don.
Yeah if you went to BHS in the late 70's/early 80's, you probably skipped school and smoked pot with my sister and her friends on a regular basis.
