That's pretty much my ideal right there, Sir Jackie... and if the Rockets want it to happen, I think they can make it happen. paxil... someone else mentioned how when JVG brought in Piatkowski that the 2 and 3 spots were almost interchangable in his system, so if we got those guys I think the rotation would look like this: PG: Arroyo, Lue SG: Barry, McGrady SF: McGrady, Jackson PF: Howard, Taylor C: Yao, Howard I'm hoping that looks something like the 8-man rotation management is shooting for, and in this situation Arroyo would have no complaints about minutes, only being relieved by Lue when necessary. Then we sign a scrub center for when we really need more size than Howard's 6'10, 260-pound frame for the vet minimum, and take Boki off the bench when we need another small forward. It works, and we've got the assets to make it happen. [/QUOTE] I like this line up as well, but I would have Barry at the 3. I view Barry as an athletic Air Bull. This guy could average 15 a game simply by knocking down open 3s. Arroyo would give us better quickness and D at the point.
to Da Man, aelliott, and GATER: you are correct in this instance. jj and tmac are interchangable on both ends of the floor. however, if we are able to get a tall 3 (like a young horry) then other teams will be forced to put their guard on tmac. if they chose to put their 3 on him, then we have another mismatch in our favor with their guard trying to D-up our foward. when i said tmac should remain a 2, i was talking about finding the right 3 to play with him. i hope boki can turn out to be that player bt if not then we should look to find one, instead of looking to add more guards.
Even if we had a tall 3, it wouldn't necessarily mean people would put their "2" against T-Mac. Look at the Bulls and Rockets in 1996-1997. We put Matt Maloney against Toni Kukoc, had Mario guard Jordan, and Drexler guard Pippen. We had a "1" guarding their "3", a "3" guarding their "2", and a "2" guarding their "3". You put your best team out their that has a chance to win and you make other teams adjust to you. There are not too many tall 3's in this league that would naturally lead to a terrible matchup for a 2. Just look at what the Rockets paraded from 2000-2002, Moochie, Steve, and Cuttino. Cuttino was the 3 essentially for big portions of the game. It doesn't matter. Oh yeah, by they way, the 6'2" Maloney did a solid job against the 6'10" Kukoc.
right but there are no mismatches in those examples. tmac against any other 2 (sans kobe) is our advantage. if they put a bigger player on him than the advantage isnt in our favor as much. neither is the matchup of jj against their other guard. lets say tmac who is 6'8 is gonna be guarded by the other teams 3, lets say the average ht would be 6'8. its not as easy to shoot over. but that would leave the other teams SG at an average ht of 6'6 guarding our 3. i would want a big 3 for us for that reason. jj cant take advantage of that matchup. if we had a SF that was 6'9 or 6'10 who is being guarded by a 6'6 guard we will be able to get a couple of easy baskets before the other team has to adjust.
Pray the reports we're hearing that Boki's working out at TC every day are true... I agree with you though. The best way teams have found so far to stop McGrady is to put a player on him that's similar in size and hope that he can keep up.
How about this lineup: PG Barry SG McGrady SF Jim Jackson PF Rasheed Wallace (get him using our TE) C Yao This is DEFINITELY a Championship TEAM 4 SURE!!!
He is not a great three point shooter but 32% just last season. He shoot more than 40 a year ago. He is good catch and shoot person and do not afraid to drive to the hoop. He got very fast first step. If you only ofter him 3 year 11.5 mil, then don't bother even write up the offer. You can save some lawyer fee for that matter. Either Utah or other team will outbid you. This is just like ebay. It is not all about how much you think it worth; it is about how many other dumb asses want to overbid you.
Sheed would only play here if he and his family really wanted to come to Houston. Otherwise he'd stay with the team he just won a ring with for more money, or go to his home town of Philly or, possibly, play for NY. Sheed ain't coming to Houston. And Detroit probably wouldn't cooperate with us in a S/T.
How's that a no chance? Assuming he wants to come here and since Detroit don't have the $$ to sign him after Okur, then they're risking of losing him for nothing since he's unrestricted free agent and if they accept Rox's TE, they at least get something in return which is the 6.9M TE....just like the Lakers will risk of losing Fisher for nothing ..so they rather get the 6.9M TE out of nothing. And i think we can do the same with Barry....assuming he wants out and don't want to be in Seattle ..he can depend to go to Houston and accept the TE which means free 6.9M TE for Seattle out of nothing.
They have 'Sheed's bird's right, and can match any offer. $6.9M is hardly anything. They will match it in a split second.
Jaz wondrin..can we trade with utah offering Tspoon or MO,Pike, and Lue for Arroyo and Jarron Collins (both sign & trade)? this solves our pg problem and center. then we may continue to sign barry.. Arroyo/barry/wilks Tmac/barry/Griffin Jackson/boki Howard/Tspoon or Mo/Padgett Yao/Collins what do ya think guys?
