Although I'm more familiar with the Rockets' situation, I am by no means an expert on other teams'salary cap situations. Perhaps the fact that I'm even posing this question is a reflection of that, but is there any scenario possible that would land us both Allan Houston and CWebb? I'm sure this would have to involve us unloading Cato's worthless butt and involve some other players in a trade. I love the Rockets but other than Hakeem, Franchise, Mobley, and maybe Taylor I won't be too upset to see some of the others leave. Ok, maybe throw in Bullard too. I just keep thinking about Orlando last year in landing both McGrady and Hill. I can't even conceive of a team with olajuwon, webber, houston, francis, and mobley earning a 6th man of the year title next year off the bench (assuming he'll take on that role again). Maybe that's why this scenario might never happen. I'm just thinking dump Cato, resign Olajuwon for the minimum, give up some picks, and then who knows what will happen. All I know is Les and Rudy and CD better be salivating over the players who are available this offseason, whether a superstar like Webber or a role player like Elie.

I don't think Mobley will be coming off the bench anytime in the next, oh, ten or twelve years. Rudy calls him "one of the best players in the league."

Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.

It would be nice and having "one of the best players in the league" come of the bench would be an awsome luxury .

Why don't we just fill up our bench with KG, Kobe, T-Mac, etc.? It would be a nice luxury to have Shaq give Cato a breather every now and then. [IMG]

I wouldn't exactly put mobley in the same category as kobe, mcgrady, or shaq.

There is absolutely no chance we will get both Houston and Webber. Both want 100 million dollar contracts this summer. Although I don't think Allen is worth anywhere near that.

There are more desirable backups:Starks, Bull, Ostertag, Perdue.

Interesting idea, Rocketfan 79. I like the thinking. Perhaps with Cato or some other trade we could get Houston. I do think that we are going to need more than Webber to go past the first round. Houston is available, but we might not have the trade bait to reel him in.

As I tried to post in another thread we need more overall talent. I still think our draft choices should be exercised and we should go for a homerun with them. Playing it safe is not the way to go for the championship.
