horry? i read that the Fakers were may try to unload him... maybe he can return to houston.. we always need someone who's clutch... houston needs a PF badly
I think Horry's return would be the turning point and will lead to our play-off place. Please please please!!!! Get Horry back!
I love Horry. I want him back for a long time. But... 1. he's pretty useless until playoffs time. So can we make the playoffs in the 1st place? 2. can we work a package which wouldn't help the Lakers to get past us in the playoffs race?
Dunno... I have my doubts about Horry... BUT He would do wonders financially if we dumped him in the off season, and we would get MoT off our hands. Horry could be used primarily for entry passes to Ming, and he does have a tendency to come out big in the big games. He's clutch, which is always good for the rox, although they already have Francis and Mobley, both of who are friggin' clutch. And he can shoot threes. Yeah, he's soft.. that's one thing I hate about him, plus half the time he looks like a lazy slouched bum, but it would help the rox, if not just for the entry passes. Plus he doesn't really need the ball.... in fact.... does he even want the ball??? hmmmm.... interesting to consider.. but would LA go for it? If MoT shows that he has some offense left in him, they might. LA's pf spot has been weak as hell. Maybe with MoT they could add some offense at that position, make it even harder for other teams to double team Shaq effectively, and let Shaq have a good shooter to kick out to.... but I still doubt the Lakers would do it.
I was thinkign about this. Then I looked at MoT's stats. If Horry is actually lazy, and sleeps through the regular season, his stats are still better than Mo. He'll still score more, he has 3-pt range, and is a betetr reboudner/defeder. This is all while he's in the regular season. We're already the team no one wants to play apparently, now imagine us with Horry in the playoffs? Can you say "1st round playoff upset win"? We want to unload MoT ANYWAY. In addition, we lose Mo's contract. In addition, Horry's (this season) better than MoT. I say, if the Lakers wnt to do it, then do it by all means. He's not worse than MoT, and we get out of his contract. Horry makes less than MoT though, so we'd have to swap 2 other players. How about we swap Collier for Samaki Walker? Or do they value Samaki Walker at anything? Whatever. Involve a 3rd team. Damn, I wish MoT would just IMPROVE at some point. I still maintain that he should lose a few more lbs. Maybe 10 more lbs. It will improve his whole game since he doesn't use his size that much anyway.
Exactly! I'll even elaborate on your #5. Sign PJ Brown in the offseason (who I believe is a free agent).
Well, if we can't afford Duncan, we probably can't afford Brand either. The max is the same for every player!
Actually, it is not. It is based from current salary and TD has been in the league longer and makes more money. The max, to him, will be $25mil or more more than EB's. Which wouldn't make Brand affordable due to other contracts. Unless -- the Clips do a sign'n'trade, like to replace their departing center with our depart worthy center???
If the Clippers don't re-sign Brand, I doubt Brand gets a lot of money. teams will be busy DREAMING of J O'neal and Tim Duncan, and at some point, both of those guys will sign and Brand will have been out there for a long time. Needless to say, that will take away from his value. I think Brand will sign for around 85-90% of his MAX if he leaves the Clips.
It would be hard to get a Horry for MoT trade to work without a third team, but I did find one option, Houston Trades: Mo Taylor Lakers Trade: Robert Horry Mark Madsden Jannero Pargo Madsden and Pargo are bench warmers or more likely IR reserve guys who have to be thrown in for cap purposes. I would do this trade in a minute, but I'm not sure the Lakers would, but if we could get a third team involved...you never know. Anyway, I'd like to see us dump Mo's contract and bring in either Dale Davis or PJ Brown through free agency. Both of these guys are veteran PFs who love to rebound and would be perfect to bring on the bench to give Eddie a break. Anyone think either of them would come for the MLE? Actually after checking, Mo for PJ Brown works perfectly under the salary cap, you think New Orleans would pull the trigger since Brown is in the last year of his contract, I doubt it.
Awesome trade idea. Robert can be our backup PF/SF this year. Then next summer, we can sign a backup banger at the PF for the MCE. That being said, we would need to seriously showcase MoT for awhile and hope he shows a spark that would sucker the Lakers to take his contract. My thought is that given cap concerns, they would rather let Horry walk, and sign their own PF for the MCE. Maybe someone like a Karl Malone that would take a paycut for a ring (although I don't see Karla taking a pay cut).
