Horry for MoT?

"Robert Horry can become a free agent this summer and is at the center of much trade speculation, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. Although teams looking to clear salary might be attracted to a $5.3 million write-off, Horry knows better than to panic – even though he's heard his name tied to Houston (in a deal for Maurice Taylor) and to Milwaukee (in a deal for Toni Kukoc). "Yeah, I hear it. I hear it all the time," Horry said of the trade rumors. "Does it bother me? Hell, no. … From what I've learned, people always throw out the what-ifs, to see if somebody will bite. … If it happens, it happens."

From ESPN.com's Lakers page. What do you guys think?

How much is Horry currently making? I would love to have Robert Horry. But then we would become an even softer team with even less rebounding...Mo Taylor and Shaq would do good...going back to Los Angeles. I don't think it will happen. Then we would have two power forwards who just shoot 3's.

The Rockets don't really need another SF but it would be nice to get out of MoT's long contract. I would do it.

I think the Lakers would have to throw in another player since Mo-T makes more money than Horry. Strange things have happened in the NBA but I don't think the Lakers and the Rockets are going to end up trading Horry for Mo-T.

If we could only be so fortunate. Horry, even at his age, is so much more athletic than MoT and would provide the perimeter threat that this team desperately needs, not to mention the leadership and wisdom that our young players need at this point in their carreers.

Here in LA, I here all the time about Horry's succession of nagging injuries. He hasn't been at full strength for about a year and a half, and at his age, he may never be again. Also, much as I'd love to see him on the Rox come playoff time, I'm not sure that we really need someone who sleep-walks through the regular season. Not a great example for the Rox kiddie corps.

Horry would be a perfect compliment to Yao. Getting rid of Mo's contract is an added plus. Leadership..... I'll do that deal in a heartbeat.

Robert Horry would be a great addition for us. I have only seen one time since Maurice Taylor has really given us a boost. I can't name the game it was, but it was sometime in late November or early December. He couldn't miss. Steve and Cat would push the ball up the court, and Mo T would stand about 3 foot inside the 3 point line and drain the J, no matter who was in his face. But what rebounding presence does he really bring? We had Yao, Mo T, Cato, and Jason Collier in there last night. Ben Wallace outrebounded all 4 of our biggest men last night 18 boards to 17 boards ( Pistons@Rockets Boxscore ). That is just wrong...

Yeah, but no way we re-sign him.

    1) He can't do any worse than a recovering MoT this year

    2) Horry = Improved chances of 1st round upset win

    3) FA this summer, let him walk

    4) Get out of MoT's contract (4 more years)

    5) Sign a vet next year to help Griff's attitude

I wouldn't want to keep him for more than half a season. Don't want him to get to Eddie. But to keep him for 40 games and the playoffs, then let him walk, AND get out of Mo's contract? I'd have to say it's perfect.

    One more thing:

He's played with a dominant big man in Houston and Lakers, so that HAS to be good.

I would give a good chunk of Les' money to simply have Horry show the Rockets how to make a post entry pass.

"It's hard to get the ball inside in modern basketball..." Please.

I like Mo T, but I'd do this in a second. Horry is Karma, Horry is Clutch, Horry is Rockets.

Robert Horry is the only player with comparable karma to Chucky.

Robert Horry will be a Rocket again. He will win one more ring with the Rocketa and retire.

    Robert Horry is a genius.

I feel the need to say that again.

    Robert Horry is a genius.

    Yes.

Much better than MoT, actually, especially in big games.

I think we should trade Rudy for Horry. :)

Let's do it, then! But why would the Lakers want Mo' Taylor? They have to know about his huge contract..

Do the trade. Get Horry. Dump in in the offseason. Bring on Tim Duncan, baby.

Uhhh...we can't afford Tim Duncan. We could dump Robert Horry and THEN SIGN ELTON BRAND!!! BRILLIANT!!!!

But still...why would the Lakers want Maurice Taylor?
