Chubb specializes in high value homes (1 million and up), high value auto, etc. They're a great company, been around for over 100 years. I recently wrote a home policy through them, and they include stuff I've never seen before. Never done an auto policy through them, but I'm sure they have great rates just like their home rates. For that area, I think Homeowners of America or Imperial, but I have to double check. Usually the northwest part of town is less expensive because you're a lot further away from the coast than the rest of us. Even the big companies (Farmers, State Farm, Allstate) have competitive rates, for the most part, in that area. I'll double check on Homeowners of America. If they do write in that area, I believe they'll only do homes 20 years old or less, but they're crazy cheap.
I am in Brazoria county and I pay about $500 per year for homeowners (Imperial). The wind policy has to be separate though and is required and that one is expensive...about $1200 per year
a premiere insurer for the more 'affluent' their rates smoke everybody if you have a more high end house with high end vehicles One of the good things about their auto policies is they're written on an agreed value basis versus an actual cash basis. If you're in an accident and total out the Jag (or whatever it is you've got) a state farm adjuster will come out and then depreciate the ride. That situation never goes over well. With Chubb, it's agreed up front what amount of money they'll pay for the vehicle if totaled and avoids the need for GAP insurance. Their play is on homes 750k and up but it's not hard to get there if you have about 3800 sq ft & higher end vehicles.
They don't write everybody. You gotta qualify. Min 750k replacement cost home with supporting auto in Harris & Ft bend Co.
ASI is a good company, but I only have access to them in coastal counties (Tier1). They have good rates for any size home, and I haven't had any problems with them. With the access I have through them, they also require a flood policy to be written through them to have the home. But, for any high end home with lots of added features, I'd try Chubb. I did a quote through Farmers for a home valued at 1.4 mil in Sienna Plantation, and they came back at a little over $11,000 per year (with a 5% hurricane deductible). They currently had State Farm, paying about $9,700 per year (with a 3% hurricane deductible). Chubb wrote it for $6,100 per year with 1% deductibles across the board. It was unreal.
Rick, if I emailed you through the board would you be able to help research through Chubb for myself? I can't believe I wasn't aware of them before. Oh, and thanks Classic. Repped.
I'll have to get all of my documents together on the home and cars, and I'm leaving soon to go visit a family member in the hospital who's about to die of cancer. I'll most likely email you this weekend. Rep sent and many, many thanks!
