From hardradio.com: The following press release has been issued by Sanctuary Records regarding QUEENSRYCHE's upcoming tour and details around the sequel to their legendary album, Operation: Mindcrime: Art rock pioneers Queensryche will perform the classic album Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety on the upcoming fall 2004/winter 2005 tour, which is being presented by VH1 Classic. A greatest hits set will open each show, and at the end of the night there will be a preview of the upcoming Sanctuary Records release Operation: Mindcrime II, the working title of the long-awaited, eagerly desired sequel to the groundbreaking concept album. Audiences will be blown away by the Surround Sound audio setup on the tour. Vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarist Michael Wilton, guitarist Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield will open each show with a greatest hits set ending with the smash 'Silent Lucidity'. Local orchestra string sections will perform with the band in select cities. Michael Igor Delassandra, formerly an official composer for the Vatican, will accompany Queensryche and perform on keyboards. "The band is so excited to be performing 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety again after not having done this in 15 years," says Tate. "We are presenting it in a whole new way that finally does justice the intricacies of the story and the personalities of the characters." Operation: Mindcrime will be recreated in full with enhanced production. Live actors will embody the fascinating characters of this chilling tale - interacting both on stage and off. Vocalist Pamela Moore, who toured with Queensryche recently, will be back to provide the vocals of the album's pivotal character, Sister Mary. New video footage will be incorporated as well. Queensryche also performed Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety in 1990-91, but this time around new and expanded video footage will be used. Fans who saw the show in 1990-91 will enjoy a more vivid experience this time. One of the most exciting parts of each concert will certainly be the finale - the preview of Operation: Mindcrime II. Fans have wanted a sequel ever since Operation: Mindcrime exploded and earned the band critical acclaim and commercial success. In particular, fans have always asked one burning question in relation to the Operation: Mindcrime' plot: Who killed Sister Mary? The new album, scheduled for release in 2005, will address that question. The North American tour begins in October 2004 and another run of dates is planned to start in January 2005.
Mindcrime is one of my top 20 albums and my wife is a HUGE QR fan. In fact, my son's first concert was Queensryche and Dream Theater at Verizon while he was still in utero. A few years ago (for the Q2K tour), my wife and I drove to San Antonio for the show there, she rode with friends to Dallas for the show there (I had to work the day of that show, so I drove home after the SA show), and then we went to the show at Verizon. We went to the meet-and-greet after the show and Mary got pictures with all of the band members (DeGarmo was with them for that tour). Very cool news.

Let's hope it turns out better than when Styx did their Mr. Roboto play/tour where they acted on stage first and played music second. Anyone remember that? They were booed relentlessly and embarrassed the hell out of themselves.
I saw Queensryche twice during that 90-91 tour. It was awesome. Queensryche was very influenced by Pink Floyd, which is the reason for the concept album Operation Mindcrime. I highly recommend getting out to see this. It WILL BLOW YOU AWAY.
Queensryche was my favorite band in HS. 1990 to 1994. They had their influences, but hell at least they had some bonafide talent. I havent seen them since the Promised Land tour..... The crappy bands I hear on the radio these days for the most part are talentless punks.
it's about damn time. the last 2 QR concerts i attended were absolutely weak. IIRC, they ended the show with a couple of songs off of their most recent album at the time HITNF and Q2K. both times, i was like, "WTF is this?" i never bothered to pick up either of those albums so naturally i wouldn't know wtf it was.
OMFG! this is what I get for tryin to have a damn life...I totally missed this one.. I will be there...and for the first time since the 80's, I will fork out the cash to get a good seat(in the first 2 rows) many thanks for the headsup Freak....I havent been keeping up witht he music news much lately.. who's up for getting tickets for the Houston show at the same time so we can enjoy the show together....a little cc.net QR event? now if they could just convince Degarmo to come along for this one....everything would be peachykeen..
I sat on the 3rd row in the Compaq Center when they did Mindcrime in its entirety the last time. A buddy of mine who worked for channel 13 got the seats and backstage passes. I sat and talked with the bass player for about an hour about gear and getting good sounds live and in the studio. At the time, as it turned out, we'd been playing about the same amount of time and had really similar equipment - his just on a larger scale. They were all just the nicest people. They all came out and sat around this little conference table with a handful of us, talked and ate pizza. Pretty cool. Can't say as I have been eagerly anticipating Mindcrime II or anything, but I'll check it out when it is released. I had been listening to them since I got a copy of The Warning when it came out - I had all their stuff including that EP. But, after Mindcrime, I lost interest.
