Is Van Gundy losing touch with his players like he did in New York? Is he starting to grate on his players. Is he going to quit mid-season. Do you really want him to be fired? Because our choices look pretty bleak after that.
this is only his 3rd season here, and only the second with tmac. tell me why any coach would quit on a team with tmac and yao? why again would he even be fired? who's out there besides Paul Silas?
I'm beginning to question whether "tmac + yao" is as strong as it sounds. Even last year they didn't do as much damage together as some other duos in the league.
well, he didn't really want to leave the knicks either--i mean, he loved the job. but, if i remember correctly, he stated that he felt he had no choice--he couldn't put in the necessary effort and energy, implying he had lost the ears of his players. it was a startling drop-off in new york--if anything, van gundy teams were at least always competitive and scrappy--the last few weeks of his knicks tenure, they seemed beaten and resigned to failure, as if they knew that the end was coming.
It's Not T-Mac and Yao. It's the garbage role players that we have on the Rockets that frankly need to be removed from the team in order to move up the ladder. Juwan Howard does nothing to help the Rockets. He is a piece of crap. The Rockets have got to STOP PLAYING him! Wesley is an old shooting guard with PG size, who can't dribble, and can't shoot like he used to. Yet the Rockets are relying on him. The above are the role players that need to be ex-Rockets, well, immediately. Swift appears to be a satisfied underachiever at this point. I'm not sure the guy cares enough to ever improve his game. Ryan Bowen is an 8th to 10th man guy on a good team, but starts for the Rockets on occasion. Derek Anderson can't shoot either. Rafer not playing is hurting the Rockets. I think he will eventually get comfortable with the Rockets despite all the naysayers around here. I'm still in his camp. The Rockets role players right now are as undependable as ever and as a result, you have our current record.
Why do some people find the excuse in not firing Gundy to be that there is no better coach out there. The way JVG is coaching, anyone can replace him and do a better job. So what if PJ and LB are already taken, there are always guys out there who will take a coaching job. What about Don Nelson. Just thought of it, serious change in playing style but doubt he would fit in.
The Rockets duo was very strong last year. For example, TNT had a stat in Game 6 of the Mavs series where it showed the points the duos in the playoffs were producing. The Houston Duo was the best. Highest Scoring Duos shown in Game 6 of the Hou/Mavs series HOU McGrady/Yao 52.0 SEA Allen/James 49.6 SEA Allen/Lewis 48.8 WAS Arenas/Hughes 46.6 SA Ginobili/Duncan 44.8 MIA Wade/O'neal 44.6
