Clearly that means you never let Altuve play at MMP. Call up Tony Kemp and bench Altuve at MMP. He clearly hurts the team and is so dismal that changes MUST be made.

In case you didn't catch that dripping with sarcasm post, you just keep letting Altuve be Altuve. Historically, his splits are much closer than they are this year.

So, you are comparing a succeeding (and numbers rising) Correa, Altuve and Springer with a failing Gomez? How is that even a comparison?

OPS of 1.120... is that good? Imagine relaxed Correa... OPS of 3.000!

I'm still fuming that Straily and Delgado are not on this team.

RISP stats are NOT used to predict future stats, except by idiots. All evidence shows they are completely random and have no predictive value at all. Moving people around based on prior RISP is like buying high and selling low - you see what worked, and then buy into that after it's already happened, not recognizing that it's too late. You can see it with Coach Dumbass's suggestions. If the Astros had listened to him, they'd have put all their hitters that have had outstanding Mays down in the bottom of the order based on their less-than-stellar Aprils. It's the height of stupidity.

It's May 19 and Altuve & Correa still have a low RISP, but still batting 3rd & 4th when they should be batting higher in the order for RISP beasts (Springer/McCann/Gattis/Gonzo/Bregman). It's a joke and mismanagement of the batting order. Sorry...Altuve is a better hitter early in the pitching count. He's batting over 400 on the road, but only 228 at home. Both Altuve and Correa do better with less on base than with RISP.

For simplicity, I've categorized our players as either table setters or RISP beasts. It's a controversial stat (updated today) but it really helps me put together a line up (11 players) based on players' BA with "bases empty" and "RISP", respectively:

    Altuve (341/237)-table setter
    Correa (312/256)-table setter
    Springer (221/357)-RISP beast
    McCann (271/382)-RISP lumber jack
    Gattis (190/353)-RISP lumber jack
    Gonzo (213/364)-RISP beast
    Bregman (232/406)-RISP beast
    Gurriel (247/344)-RISP peacock :)
    Reddick (295/242)-table setter
    Jake (308/143)-table setter
    Aoki (260/286)-balance

This might be my favorite troll account I've seen across clutchfans. The absolutely single minded approach to Joe Morgan-style "analysis" is nicely complemented by the 80's banner avatar. Admittedly it would work better on twitter, where it wouldn't be quite so obvious that no one who takes the time to post on an Astros site within a Rockets site can be quite this idiotic. It isn't quite to the inspired JCDenton level of "advanced analytic graphs," but it's close. Well done Flip!

Projected over an entire session, Altuve is on a 111 RBI pace in May, while Correa is putting up MVP numbers and on a 150 RBI pace. The team is 13-3 and scoring runs at a rate not seen in years. Let's change up this juggernaut. After all, Wheeler was able to protect a four run lead in game 6 in 2005.
