He lost his hitch in his swing, and now it looks like he found it again.

I still think Hidalgo wil be a productive player. He is just not as bad as he was in May/mid-June and not as good as he was for the first 3 weeks he was a Met.

Unfortunately, with his contract, the Astros weren't going to receive much more than a player of the type as Weathers (similar to the Lima-Mlicki trade) and a prospect like Griffiths.

Folks just need to get over this trade. A change had to be made. If he hadn't been traded then he would probably still be languishing on the bench and spot starting and still mired in a miserable slump.

Considering he was 8-37(.216 BA, .243 SP) with 0 HRs and 1 RBI in the 10 games prior to the last 2 games, it is a stretch to say he is "still at it".

stop...you're interfering with the hindsight bashing!!! we all knew well in advance of the trade that hidalgo was and is an MVP candidate. all of us here...every last one of us...lamented the hidalgo trade.

okay so we gave up a slumping OF for Weathers, who has caused us to lose 6 games or so. Weathers is the worst reliever I've seen in a while. All the runners he inherits on base - score. That's not too good.

So we sign beltran; so what, our record has depleted.

Haven't seen any Hidalgo updates for a while. That "swing flaw" that the Mets discovered must have mysteriously reappeared. It would be interesting to see what the Mets have to say now. They seemed to take considerable credit when he was going well in his first few weeks with the team for discovering this flaw.

Hidalgo is hitting .111 with a .172 OBP and .222 Slugging in 7 games this month (1 HR, 3 RsBI, 9 Ks). He is also 21 for his last 103 ABs (6 HRs, 1 2B, 16 RsBI). Now that I have posted this update, he will probably start another hot streak tonight.

Why did you have to go and do this? What exactly has Weathers done?

I wish we were still paying $17 million for those numbers.

Had we not traded Hidalgo, people would be complaining about us paying him too much and not trading him.

    Madmax,
That is really not the point. Who cares about Hidalgo? I thought you guys were complaining about bringing up this post every time Hidalgo did something. Now, you guys turn around and do the same thing.
