well how bout that...Hidalgo hit two home runs today against the Yankees. I wish we had waited a little longer on him instead of trading for a late 30s setup man.

I don't think Jimy knows how to treat Major league hitters or batters.

Jimy shows no confidence in any of his players.....

I wish Richard the best....he has the tools, it is all in his confidence.

I would say it is more in his conditioning and bat speed.

I knew this was gonna ******* happen! I was pissed about the trade and still am. It was a moronic decision. Doggy is still a good power hitter. I knew he would be fine with just a little more patience and actual playing time. Least get someone decently good as opposed to Weathers who isn't anything too special. We wouldn't have Beltran if we still had Hidalgo but least we'd still have Dotel and Buck.

Dotel blew his first save opportunity in Oakland, and Buck is 0-6 with 3 K's so far.

Who cares? We used the money we saved on the trade to get Beltran. I'll take him over Hidalgo!

The odds of Beltran being with the Astros next season are better than the odds would have been of having Hidalgo here next season had they kept him.

I suspect if the Astros do not make the playoffs this year, you will see Taveras in CF next year with Burke at 2nd. If they make the playoffs, no telling what will happen.

So true, when is the last time you saw an Astros outfielder go over the fence to get a ball. That play won the game.

From May 8th through June 9th, the Astros played 29 games and Hidalgo started 23 of those games (in other words he got the "actual playing time" you desired). In those games he was 15-85 with 0 HRs. He struck out 26 times and had 4 RsBI. How much longer should a team that is trying to make the playoffs wait for him to produce?

With Hidalgo's huge contract, there were limited opportunities to trade him.

Personally, I hope Hidalgo does well. He seems like a good guy.

He's still hitting .260 with 3 times as many strikeouts as walks. He's also got an awesome .307 obp. He's on fire.

Sometimes players need to be traded.

It amazes me somone would start this thread after Beltran made that catch yesterday in a 1 run game, as well as scored the game winning run.

We did not trade Hidalgo for Weathers. We traded Hidalgo to get Beltran.

If it amazes you, you haven't been visiting this particular forum for any significant amount of time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure that you guys will) but with Hidalgo's contract off the books and with the probability of the 'stros not resigning Beltran, this team is going into rebuilding mode. Kent walks. Clemens retires, Biggio gone, etc.

Why wouldn't they resign Beltran and build the team around him? It seems as though the money is there.
