What a game, and what a start! I was having flashbacks to last year after we blew the 5-1 lead and got down 6-5 in the 12th. But how about this-- clutch play like the playoff years. Biggio draws the walk. Berkman the single. Richard fouled off what seemed like 10-15 pitches, all on an 0-2 count, before getting a pitch to hit. And hit he did. No doubt when it left his bat-- this one went out to Crawford Ave. Great game, and a great start to the season. Astros 2-0, Cardinals 0-2. Damn that was a sweet homer. I love it when the ball goes out of the park! wahoo for the astros! ------------------ Poopy! And, yes, I have a boyfriend.
That was the second one he hit out of the park. Unreal! Cardiac Kids 2001??? ------------------ And then, depression set in...
Of course Hidalgo drove in the last Astro's runs with his colossal blast in the 3rd. He hammered that ball. Fox Sports gets negative reviews again, because, despite showing the game, they had technical problems in the bottom of the 5th that didn't get fixed until the bottom of the 9th. Booooo. But I did get to listen to the Astros radio guys again, I really like them. Did anyone notice that Dieker pulled Lima really quick? In the past he would have kept him in there to see if he could work his way out of the jam. The Bullpen had a solid effort again tonight, that pleases me. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. 5 fouls and a ball after an 0-2 count. Sweet! I am sooo pumped for this season! ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS

Great hit by Hidalgo. Would have been a great at-bat even if he didn't get the homer. Excellent performance by the bullpen. What a change! The downside is that Lima looked like the last year's Lima again. I was hoping Ausmus would have a positive impact on him. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
There's still time for Lima. It is important that we didn't lose the game, so Lima can't blame that on himself and stay up all night talking to the little man inside his glove telling him that if they would just let Lima merengue during his wind up and delivery, everything would be fine. I like the fact that our hitters picked up where Lima left off... our pitchers will do fine if we can keep giving them run support. ------------------ "Any event, once it has occurred, can be made to appear inevitable by a competent historian." What has the attendence been like at Enron? We went to one exhibition game and there weren't many people there, but that is understandable. What has it been like now that the season has started? From the tv, it doesn't look like all that many people are there. And on such a beautiful night, I just don't understand it. ------------------ Poopy! And, yes, I have a boyfriend. Five papers and counting! wahoo!
I'm going Friday, and I'm sitting in the club where the strong cocktails are. I can't wait to get back to the ballpark! ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
shanna and I went last night, stayed until the last pitch, and drove the 2.5 hours back to Austin. What a game and what a stadium. It seemed about half-full, and the fans pretty much sucked until they got rid of the crappy ones around the seventh or so. I mean, you have two outs, two strikes, and the fans aren't even cheering for the third strike? That's horrible. Anyway, we moved to about the fifth row in the 10th, and just want to say that I don't want to hear anyone b****ing about Ward's fielding on that play in the 12th. It's equally Biggio's fault. We were right there, and neither one of them called it. Ward spent half the time running for the ball looking at Biggio to make sure he wouldn't run into him. Oh well, all's well that ends well. ------------------ www.swirve.com I think my w**** is dead.
Rocketman95: what's your opinion of Enron Field? I mean, it's notorious for homers, but what's the atmosphere likes? ALl I've heard is that it's not as impersonal as the Dome. It's amazing. It's the second time I've been, and by the 12th, I was still kind of wide-eyed at the whole thing. I'm pretty sure shanna got sick of hearing me say how awesome it was. Like I said, the fans sucked last night until the late innings. ------------------ www.swirve.com I think my w**** is dead.
I agree about Enron. Its an awesome place to watch a game. I went twice last season, and the park is beautiful. You get a nice view of downtown, too. Plus it is a million times better to watch baseball outdoors. Did I mention how cool it is to watch the roof retract? ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
I just happened to be flipping channels last night when I stumbled across the game!
