Economic liberty means that I get to enjoy MORE of the fruits of my labor If you like this, why would you support the Bush administration? Under his government, we have increased the rate of spending far more than his predecessor. He's just taking a loan out in your name, giving you stuff, and making you think you're better off. Apparently, it worked on you. It's like buying a TV on credit card. Just because you paid no cash today doesn't mean you're better off - it'll come back to bite you (or your kids) eventually. You'll be paying for these tax cuts for the rest of your life in taxes to cover the higher annual interest payments.
When I get back more of my money with the tax cuts, that is what I call increased economic freedom. Am I happy about his spending? Hell no. I'm not particularly happy with that or the immigration issue. That is particularly galling that a Republican would favor opening our borders to what amounts to a non-violent invasion. If national security wasn't such a big issue with me (since Kerry is in my view totally imcompetent in this area), I'd vote Libertarian as I have for several years. There are some things I don't like about the Libertarian Party, like their view of a isolationist foreign policy, but basically, they line up nicely with my many of my views. In case you're curious about their candidate, here he is, Michael Badnarik.
"Capri graduated from Stanford University with honors at age 19" cute, down to earth and smart as a whip - I sure like what I see with these new young Democrats
bammaslammer; As a small businessman I hear you about lower taxes, and less regulation which I think you were getting to. That said there is something to be said for fiscal responsibility which the current crop of Republicans have totally dropped. IMO I don't think either of the major parties can guarentee fiscal discipline and the only way to restore that is with divided government where they can keep each other in check. As far as the national security side of things I respectfully disagree. I don't think this Admin has made us safer and if anything have increased the danger to Americans. The hamhanded handling of foreign affairs and arrogance have certainly made things more dangerous. At the same time pulling resources from persuing the known threat of Al Qaeda to go after the contained and speculative threat of Saddam doesn't strike me as having your national security priorities straight.
Hold on a sec. Didn't Stephanie Herseth win in South Dakota? It might not matter to y'all in Texas but here in the Upper Midwest they make a difference. FYI Herseth's win means that the whole congressional delegation from SD is Democrat even though the state is heavily Republican.
All this taxes and politics talk is seriously derailing what could have very well been the D&D's own Lindsay Lohan thread... (yes...i'm quite smitten by her).
