    Paging Tinman.....

Whats the word on new tv's for 2007??? I've had my eye on these LED 61' Samsung Tv's (especially HL-T6189s) that just came out...I wanted to get it before the NBA Playoffs, but I'm gonna wait a while before i pull the trigger on it. I wanna see it in the store first.

Are there any other TV's coming out soon???

the new Sony XRDS??? Or Anything???

I just got the Sony SXRD 60" A2020. It should be delivered by this weekend, so I'll let you know how it is.

I saw this whole neat show about new HDTVs. Funny thing was it was televised on HDNET. My advice is save money and don't worry about 1080p. Unless you are a stickler. Personally... Unless its a video game or flashy movie I don't notice the difference.

Yep, Tweeter got them in a couple weeks ago. And Circuit Sh-tty has the 55" on display and the 60" is in their warehouse.

As far as wanting to spend no more than 3200 bucks, I got the TV for $2250 plus tax from Tweeter. Both they and Circuit Sh-tty were asking for $2500, but I had a 10% off coupon through AAA for any Circuit Sh-tty item above $199, so I got Tweeter to pricematch. If you have a AAA membership or know someone who does, I can give you the URL to download the coupon.

Keep in mind I did also pick up a stand for the TV along with a 5-year warranty. Not to mention I paid 60 bucks for shipping and of course there's sales tax. So in the end, the whole thing came out to around $3320. I won't include the additional cost of HDMI cables and a new surge protector. :)

I heard those LEDs were buggy. I know that Sony is coming with a 1080p 3LCD (I have a 3lcd 720p). These TVs have excellent user satisfaction and aren't buggy.

The SXRDs are always good choices. Besides hoops, what else do you use it for? video games? bluray? hddvd?

    I'll be hooking up a PS3(for Blu-ray, not games), a Toshiba HD-XA2 HD-DVD player, and a HD-DVR. A friend's 360 will occasionally be hooked up as well, but I don't play video games.

I demoed Casino Royale on Blu-ray on the SXRD at Tweeter last weekend and it looked really nice.

Actually, those are the only two source from which you would notice a difference between 1080P and 1080i since no one broadcasts in 1080P and no one has any plans to in the near future!!

keep in mind, these are rear projection tvs similar to DLP. the technology is a little different, you wont get rainbow problems. and color is slightly better.

    the article says July.

also, it appears they only have 50/46 inch sizes. so its probably better if you go SXRD or DLP if you want a larger TV.

It's got 2 HDMI inputs. I'll hook up the PS3 and HD-XA2 players through the HDMI inputs. The HD-DVR will be connected through component since it only does 1080i anyway.

I'm getting the new Onkyo 605 receiver next month(it decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-MA) which has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output. At that point, I'll run the HD players through the receiver and then connect the HD-DVR directly to the TV using HDMI. That's how I have it set up in my bedroom right now.
