    Happy new year everyone.

I recently purchased a Toshiba NB205 netbook. I want to hook it up to my HDTV to project some video. The video works fine but the sound is problematic. I connected the netbook to the TV via the headphones / line-out slot with an audio cable. Sound starts to come out from the TV speakers but the volume is really low. If I turn up the volume on my TV, there starts being a lot of feedback.

Is there any easy fix to this? Thanks!

Are you using the "line out" or the "headphones" line?

If you're on Vista, go to your control panel and figure out if you have Sigma Tel audio (it's the one with the Greek sign) that you can configure to be either "center channel" or "line out" or "headphones" at will.

My laptop usually asks me "what is connected to this jack?" when I plug something in, and then I can configure it accordingly. Another thing that might be your problem is that the headphone jack thingiemajiggie might not be all the way in *that's what she said*.

Also, what software are you using to play the movie or video file? You might need to place that software's sound on 3/4ths of the way so you can have it loud enough and manageable for your TV to play accordingly.

Configure the sound in the control panel to be in the 3/4ths of the sound on your PC to begin with.

Happy New Year to you too, sir.
