so i have dish network's hd-dvr (mode vp-522 or something) and I was wondering if there was a way to pull some of the stuff I had recorded off of the dvr and transfer it to my computer so I can author and burn it to a dvd. I do know that I will have to compress the HD video so its no longer true 720p or 1080i HD down to 480p but I can live with that. I have a few things I recorded that I want to keep but I probably will not view in the near future and it is starting to take space up on my dvr.

I do know that my dvr does have a rj-45 connection to it, can i access it if I put it on my local network?

    any dvr gurus out here?

    thanks for any help
