Ok, just recently my computer has been acting very slow since I've install Norton System Work 05' but I dunno if that's the prob. When I turn on my computer now I can hear the fan blowing very loud the whole time, and it takes awhile for the icons to load or to open up when I click on them.
Also, When I'm using IE sometime when I'm typing the website address it would show one letter slowly at a time.

Basically as I'm typing right now ... I can hear the fan blowing louder than normal, the icons open up slower when I click on them .. and when I"m in the TASK MANAGER it shows COMPUTER USAGE 100% ? but nothing else is open.

I have ran norton virus and it shows no problem.

    Any Ideas? thanks

spyware may be? the fan blowing loud is related to the 100% CPU usage. Have u tried uninstalling ur Norton?

Run a spyware/adware program like SpyBot, Adaware, Microsoft's Beta program and see what it finds. Quit using IE and get a real browser also.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of either Norton or McAfee....they usually work but are so intrusive to the processes of the machine that it makes it not worth it. I would recommend maybe using Trend Micro's Internet Security 2005. I've been using their stuff for about 2 years, and couldn't be happier.

See what tasks are using the CPU (go to the Processes tab of the Task Manager). Google the task/process names and you will likely know what is up.

My guess is that Norton Utilities are misbehaving.

Quit using IE and get a real browser also.

Quit using Outlook to read your email. Outlook is the entry point of choice for most viruses.

I tend to agree with uninstalling Norton, but loading up the anti-spyware programs that Lil Pun recommends is definately a good idea.

I'm sure your fan will calm when your cpu calms.

Maybe not the post of the year but definitely the most ironic post of the year considering that you, Lil Pun, start 90% of the Computer Help threads but yet you are giving computer advice!:p :D ;)

Replace your hosts file with the one in the site will block most spyware and save bandwidth from popups. The best thing is that it's automatic and there aren't any programs to hog up resources.
