First off, let me say that I like plasmas more than lcd. But when I went looking at TVs, this particular Samsung caught my eye. I was actually comparing a Panasonic, Pioneer, and the Samsung. I wanted to see what model it was, and I saw that the Samsung LN46A750 was LCD. I am VERY impressed with it. I am thinking about buying this, but I need some advice. To those who own any tv in the series, how bad is the ghosting? LCDs are known for this, and it's probably on top of my priority list. Are you happy with it? Any faults? and should I wait til November to get this TV in case the price drops? Thanks
LCDs are pretty much better than plasmas now. Ghosting was a problem with earlier LCD TVs, not so much now. LCDs save lots of energy too, and has no problems with glare.
its got the 120hz feature, which eliminates all ghosting issues and makes the frame rate all smooth. you still won't get the great black level/contrast of say a pioneer elite or top of the line panasonic. nevertheless, its impressive, no glare and great for video games.
Last years model of that TV was better. LNT-7XX71f or something like that. I believe this years model is slightly cheaper though?
that's the highest samsung model you can get isnt it? 7 Series LN46A750 (50,000:1) 6 Series LN46A650 (50,000:1) 5 Series LN46A550 (30,000:1) LN46A546 (35,000:1) LN46A530 (12,000:1) 4 Series & 3 Series LN46A450 (10,000:1) LN46A330 (8000:1)
Can the 120hz feature be turned off? i dont know if Ilike that "at the studio" feel. and if I do turn it off, is the picture not as good?
that 120hz can't be turned off, but the 'smoothing' effect can. sony has their 'cinemotion' feature. i don't know what its called for samsung but it can be adjusted.
My cousin just got his dad the 46 inch from the 5 series. The picture looked washed out. But the 7 series 46 inch Samsung I saw could pass for a plasma. Is that just because of the Best Buy's floor setting, or can the LN46A750 really produce plasma-like pop. I appreciate it your help, and don't think I forgot about that Street Fighter match. It might have to wait until Street Fighter IV comes out though haha
LN46A 750 vs LN46A 650 Does the 16-bit vs 12-bit processor in the 650 make a difference in picture quality? Also, -I don't care about the internet stuff at all -I want a picture that does not look washed out -Don't need the sub-woofer The difference in price is about $400. I guess it all boils down to: Is the PQ is better on the 750 than the 650?
washed out? did your dad set it up correctly with the best connections (hdmi) and properly configured it? I know someone with a 46 in LCD Samsung and it looks great. check the settings at best buy. or you can just read the reviews on cnet, hometheatermag or just go to the avsforums
