wow, maybe i should read those manuals?! I play lots of sports games and they have the scoreboard fixed on the screen...hmm
Don't feel bad. I read that manual several times and never noticed it til this past weekend. It's in really small print. Thankfully, anti-burn-in safety measures are engrained in my head after owning an HD RPTV for the past 5 years. So it's not much of an adjustment.
There doesn't seem to be much to the rumors, but FYI, if you do get a 360 right now (or the near future), just get it someplace where you can get a warranty. (EB/Gamestops have a year for 30 or 40 bucks, I think). If a new version happens during the year, you can probably just take it back - say it started freezing during games or something - and exchange it out with the warranty.
I'll be in the market as soon as I find out how much it'll cost me to repair my Toshiba Cinema Series Projection HDTV...I've had it since 1998 and has been a champ until a month ago... After I turn it off, sometimes after a couple to 8 hrs, it doesn't come back on...Only a red blinking light where the power button is...If I unplug the power and re-plug, picture comes right back on...I don't think its my picture tube, but maybe a short circuit somewhere... I will probably get a DLP as my next one, but I'm cool with a projection TV if I could get one cheap...
I just ran across this thread again, and realized I hadn't seen this post. Yes, I'm very happy with the Westinghouse LCD. Just be sure you get the latest firmware. The big reason to go with LCD for me were reflections (plasmas are like a mirror, reflection wise, in comparison... LCD's seem to absorb light), because my living room has a host of windows and lighting all over the place. The other main reason is that I have two kids that have the damn thing on all the time, unless I sit on them, lol. I just didn't want to have a problem with burn-in. As DoD said, it's not that big a problem with plasmas, at least like it used to be, but this isn't an issue of having the Disney logo in the corner for 3 or 4 hours. If we're out for several hours, the damned thing's going to be on. With the LCD, it just isn't a potential issue. I still need a surround sound system for it, though, because the sound is decidedly average, at best.
I used to work for a tv station that had a couple of Toshiba HDTV's that were a bit newer than yours that had similar problems. If I remember right, and I apologize in advance if I don't, it was a power supply problem. They decided to repair them rather than replace them.
Power supply...I actully thought the same thing...I looked up some stuff in forums and it was either the tube which I don't think it is or a short circuit...I tried a new power strip to help regulate power into the tv but that didn't help...I'll be getting an estimate next week...Thanks...
