Not sure if there is a thread on this yet, but has anyone else been watching the John Adams mini series on HBO?

    I think it's a great program.

    Is it on demand yet?

I usually think Linney overacts in just about everything I've seen her in.

Otherwise, this is a terrific mini-series. I added HBO to my TV specifically because of it (I think my wife cancelled HBO after Sex and the City went off the air). The production value is sensational.

Of course, I actually enjoy this period of American History, so I don't mind seeing on television, but I find the time I spend watching it very worthwhile.

For those late to the show, HBO is airing the first four of seven episodes in succession on Friday.

speaking of HBO series, dont mean to change the subject, but i cant start threads...

    did anybody watch In Treatment?

what a show. Byrne deserves an emmy for the time commitment alone, but I dont think i've seen anybody more deserving of an emmy than the girl who played Sophie. talk about an acting masterclass. she was the shining star of the show.

Giamatti is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors and I think he is spectacular in this.

    Great mini series.

I thought it was well done, the acting was very good, and the sets very believable. I usually wouldn't take the time to sit through such a series if I couldn't buy into it. This series had me for the duration from the first few minutes. I have observed some negative or mediocre reviews elsewhere, however. Apparently, not everyone enjoyed it like I did.

I thought there were a couple of slow parts where it dragged later in the series, but overall I enjoyed it a lot...

    Just finished episode 5, brilliant.

If you like history at all, this is a very good series to watch.

    Well acted, and well written.

If anyone has not watched this series, it is WELL worth the time, amazingly acted, brilliantly written and the history of the great men who founded this country...amazing.

I only wish our politicians had the same sense of right and wrong that these men did.

Hopefully HBO will air this again. Having been born in Boston I was luckily exposed to all the historical Revolutionary sites and I took as many similar classes in college as I could.

Does anyone have any good historical bio recommendations for any of the founding fathers? I just read Hitchen's Jefferson: Author of America. It was just ok, although I read it sporadically a few pages at a time bc of my schedule. That can really hurt the experience to the point that I'm considering re-reading it. Anything Ben Franklin seems like a great follow-up.

All these guys were preferable to the corporate wet nurse mish-mash we have in office today. It wouldn't be so bad if they were honest about their loyalties. Then we could have an honest argument and maybe not have such a divided country. The media doesn't help much.
