Dominated like a Rice girl's butthole in the Third Ward. I root for Manchester City because they have Islamic ownership and players (Nasri). Mostly just to piss off ATW, because I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I'm somewhat of a huge troll.
lol now you're following me around trying to troll me I'm in your mind like nobody else on this board, son. You've reached bigtexxx puppet status
I think your thread title is way over simplified. 1. Religion and race cause hatred among people. 2. Soccer traditionally is born out out of the neighborhoods. That's why large cities have multiple teams and very few use the cities name. Instead they use their neighborhood or some common group affiliation. This is especially true for the teams discussed in this thread like the UK and Italian based teams. Also true in Latin Countries. 3. Neighborhoods by very nature are compact and communities that usually share common values and belief systems. They also share similar populations and people tend to move where there are like people. Those neighborhoods root for their "home" team and constitute the majority of the fan base. So I reiterate, your thread title is way over simplified and wrong. For the reasons I listed above, hate may manifest itself in soccer but is not born of soccer. Your thread title should read, "Hatred in People."
One of my favorite football players is a Muslim (Ribery) - and obviously my favorite basketball player (Hakeem).
"Hatred in People" though would be a far greater oversimplification and one that could be so vague that this thread would be rapidly derailed by any other issue involving bigotry. While yes religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. are the specific causes the articles I cited had to do with how they are expressed in soccer so in this regard this is exactly about "hatred in soccer" as while the hatred might be different, anti-Semitism, anti-Arab, anti-dark skinned people, the medium it is expressed in is football clubs and fans.
rocketsjudoka -- what are your thoughts on Asian countries' acceptance of minorities? Do they ever exhibit racist behavior?
Good to see my domination of your thoughts and emotions continues. To answer your question yes there are a lot of racial and ethnic tensions among Asians which is very problematic. I have commented about that regarding the treatment of Tibetans by the Chinese, Koreans by the Japanese and the mutual hatred between the Chinese and Japanese. I was talking Saturday over dinner about the Chinese bias in Singapore regarding that is a country that is complaining about declining birth rate yet won't let a lot of immigrants in from the rest of SE Asia.
you're totally missing the point... Europeans go to soccer games. The fact that they bring their hate and prejudices with them has nothing to do with the game of soccer. It's what Euro's do, they go to soccer games. Pick any sport with a social gathering and make it the most popular in Europe and the World and it happens in those sports arena's instead of soccer. Why? Because the 3 reasons I explained in my other posts. Please stop acting as if soccer had something to do with making these people learn how to hate and be prejudiced.
And you are totally missing my point. My point had nothing to do with blaming soccer or soccer being the cause of hatred it was that hatred is being expressed in soccer. The thread title is "Hatred in Soccer" not "Hatred Caused by Soccer
