This is hilarious. You've got to think PETA has better things to do. Got Mucus? Mad Cow From PETA Claims Milk Causes Obesity, Phlegm Tuesday, February 27, 2001 By Lisa Harleman MADISON, Wis. — Outside Velma Hamilton Middle School here, students running to catch their bus home this week met with a sight just a little on the odd side, even in this, the dairy state: a cow. FOX News But this was not just any cow. It was actually a campaigner for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals dressed as a cow and bearing a message as out of place as a palm tree. Beware of milk, the faux cow’s placard proclaimed. It's the latest salvo in PETA's national anti-milk campaign, a war taking them to middle and elementary schools around the country. "We're warning kids that drinking milk is a health hazard," PETA’s Sean Gifford explains. "It also means a life of suffering and abuse for the dairy cows." Some of the students swarmed around Gifford, looking for a free handout of anti-milk stickers and trading cards depicting what PETA believes are the results of rampant milk consumption. One depicts an obese little boy, "Chubby Charlie." PETA thinks drinking milk causes everything from obesity to high blood pressure to diabetes. But at this school, in the heart of the Dairy State, the message is a hard sell. Some of the students responded to Gifford and his pal with shouts of, "Milk, it does a body good!" and "I like milk." One student tells Gifford, "I drink milk and I'll keep drinking it 'till the day I die." Eleven year-old Anna Frackman frowned. "What they're doing is against everything we've learned about a nutrient rich diet," she said. Greg Miller, a nutritionist with the Dairy Council, agrees. PETA’s "message is irresponsible," he said. "Their message stands alone. It is different from every other mainstream medical health professional organization in the U.S." In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society and the Food and Drug Administration all recommend milk as an essential part of healthy diet. But PETA attributes such endorsements to the power of the milk industry. "It's a billion dollar industry and they have the power to influence people," Gifford insists. Miller and the Dairy Council point out that the agencies operate independently of the dairy industry and say parents should get nutrition advice from these mainstream medical health professionals, not from animal activists. Wisconsin dairy farmer Debbie Crave also showed up outside Hamilton Middle School. She said she wanted to hear PETA’s message first hand. She watched silently as Gifford passed out his trading cards and tales of animal cruelty. "Our cows, all 600 of them, are like cats and dogs," she said. "They're treated very well, they have padded bedding stalls, they have as much feed to eat as they want. They live a really good life. "I think it's great that we have freedom of speech, but I think it's tragic that we don't get the facts right and mislead youth," she said.
ANYTHING causes SOMETHING if not done in moderation! Hmmmmm, think I'll have a milkshake for dinner! ------------------ Whatever you want to do, you have to do something else first.
PETA makes me crazy. Milk does create phlegm. Duh! Sure, it is loaded with fat. Duh! Better than the kids drinking soda. ------------------ "You know what they say about the music business. Here today, gone TODAY! - Chris Rock at the MTV Music Video Awards
I'm starting my own organization. It too is called PETA. (gasp) People for the Ethical Treatment of Air. It is difficult to think that some air particles will never get to feel the warmth (gasp) of the sun, the chill of a winters day, never know the soft rumblings of a good stinky belch. Why you ask, becuase there are cruel (gasp) and heartless people in this world that think it is thier given right (gasp) to use it and abuse it as if air has no feelings at all. (gasp) I implore you to think of the little airs all over the world that will never see a flower in the spring (gasp). Right now, (gasp)I call upon all citizens of the world to follow my lead and to stop breathing air. If we can (gasp) get every American, and every citizen world wide (gasp) to just stop breathing, (gasp) the air can once again be free to enjoy all (gasp) that has been stripped away. If we can just (gasp)save one air a day (thug)........... ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard... oh well, if no PETA members drink milk, maybe their skeletons will all collapse under their own weight in a few years and we won't have to listen to nonsense like this anymore. ------------------ "all your base are belong to us!" "you have no chance to survive make your time!"
My wife and I do not drink milk. If my wife gets even a limited amount, she can get very sick. I generally get very uncomforable, if I accidentally consume any. We are not suffering. Besides, the best (and purest) source of calcium is orange juice. ------------------ Take an object. Do something to it. Do something else to it. " " " " "

PETA doesn't have grip with reality. I'm an environmentalist, but who gives a ****e if cows don't like being milked. Hehehe... I had a conversation with someone from PETA once that went like this: Me: So you believe all creatures are equal? PETA member: Yes Me: So anthropocentrism is completely wrong? PETA member: yes Me: does that mean that plants are equal, too? PETA member: well, yes... it means that all life is equally sacred Me: If it doesn't make a difference, would you mind if I eat YOU? PETA member: errr, well... ummm... ------------------ Boston College - Big East -East Division Regular Season Champs Worst to First in 2001!
