Has anyone seen them before? They'll be in Houston on Feb. 1st and I've been thinking of going. Is it worth it or no?
I've seen 'em....they were awesome! Of course, when I saw them, you weren't born yet, and the stars were Meadowlark Lemon, Sweet Lou Dunbar and Curly Neal.
I saw Lou and Curly in 83 - when did you see them? I don't really remember much except at one point one of the Washington Generals went after a Globetrotter, who then grabbed someone's glasses and said "You wouldn't hit someone with glasses would you?" Also, my sister spilled Dr. Pepper all over her white tights. I still have the program.
Honestly, I couldn't tell you exactly what year it was, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a full ten years prior to when you saw them. If I had to guess, I'd say it was around 75. I know I was pretty young at the time, and I'm pretty sure it was prior to middle school (I graduated high school in '85). Still, I remember being highly entertained.
Did you know Cedric Ceballos in the Harlem Globetrotters? I saw them playing some college team the other day. I was like wtf?
It's definately worth going to see. I went last year with some friends and we all enjoyed the show. If you have kids they would love it too. From what I understand there is a team just for show that plays the Generals and will always win, and a team for actual competitions.
Yea i heard that too, the dumbest thing i hate when i see them on t.v. is the weave they do at the top of the key and the players follow them around.
